I went for a couple last week and based on previous reviews I was very surprised. I was expecting a lot worse than I read, but the hotel was pretty basic and dated but the rooms were large, clean, and had a balcony overlooking the sea. The area surrounding the pool could have used more frequent cleaning because it was often full of leaves, but this did not put me off spending time there. Sue met us at the front desk and was very helpful and friendly, including directions to the local pharmacy, the hippy market, and other local attractions.

I had just spent seven nights here with my husband. Basic apartments in a good location. The beds are comfortable, but no air conditioning made it difficult to fall asleep. We provided a fan for two nights with a refundable 10-day deposit. The room was fine, but the bathroom was really bad. They did say that the rooms were being renovated, so make sure to ask for one of these. Towels are changed every other day. Beds were changed once. However, the rooms werent cleaned the entire time we stayed there. If I visit here once more, Id bring essential wipes. The staff was excellent, especially the bar girls. The food at Nags Head was also excellent. The pool is nice but tiny. As the sun bed area was sold out quickly, I had to dismantle the chairs. Overall, good, but the bathroom and cleaning both let these lovely apartments down. Would return but ask for a revamped room.

We wanted affordable accommodations, and we were happy with the apartment we stayed in. Some of the bad reviews surprised me, it seems that some people want budget accommodation, but have expectations for a 5 star hotel, which is visible in the reviews. To be honest, el cortisol is very decent for the price you pay. I do not think you will find cheaper. We loved having a kitchenette and shower were working, hot water was never a problem, and the bed was comfortable. What more could you imagine on a budget? We decided to spend less on hotels and more on experience. The cleaning team was fantastic, they changed our towels every day. The area is nice, es canal beach is nearby and we were surprised on all the other beaches that sunbeds were over 30 euros and on es canal they were 18. There are many small market and supermarkets nearby, shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant is also very nice and the food is delicious. Thank you for a fantastic vacation, el cortisol!.

We were in room a which overlooked the apartment entrance and had a stunning sea view. Basic but everything you could possibly need for a pleasant stay. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Sue, lit, sarah, james, david, and gary are all very nice and helpful. Large pool area with plenty of sunbeds and comfortable sofas. There is a small store selling the basics and a lovely boutique. The food in the attached Nags head was excellent, hot, and delicious.

About El Cortijo

These apartments are situated in the well-known tourist area of Es Caná, approximately 2 km from the famous Hippy Market at Punta Arabí. Guests will find the sandy beach as well as restaurants, bars, links to the public transport network and shopping venues in the direct vicinity of the hotel. It is around 25 km to Ibiza airport. This family-run apartment hotel, situated in Es Caná, offers guests a total of 35 comfortable apartments and studios spread over 4 floors. The kitchens have been fully renovated in 2007. This establishment offers the only English-style pub in the area, with a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. Facilities on offer to guests include a lobby area, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, a lift, a cafe, a mini supermarket, a bar, a pub and a restaurant. There is a playground on hand for younger guests. The pleasant and comfortable apartments consist of a bedroom, a living room, a fully fitted bathroom and a kitchenette (fully refurbished in 2007), which comes with a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, and either a balcony or a terrace. An ironing set is also available as well as a safe. The hotel features 2 outdoor swimming pools with a children's paddling area, a poolside snack bar as well as sun loungers and parasols. At Cala Martina beach, situated approximately 300 m from the complex, guests will find a wide selection of water sports on offer. For an additional fee, guests may enjoy a game of billiards and there are sun loungers and parasols available for hire on the sandy beach.
