We were given a last-minute room here because of an unexpected change of plan and it was an ideal home base for exploring the city, but there were a few drawbacks, making me don't believe we would return. The Nicaraguan mother and daughter, who seemed to do almost everything together, particularly the mother, were both welcoming and useful. The city center and Cabana Park could both be reached by foot from the attractive location. We stayed in a sizable superior room, which had a refrigerator and reliable hot water in the bathroom. Numerous old English-speaking books are readily accessible for swapping or simply taking. There are drawbacks the hotel itself has seen better days and, as I already stated, was overpriced for what we got. The breakfast is the same each day, but while you get unlimited fruit and large portions, the other foods and drinks were of poor quality. I did not even like the coffee, which hasn't occurred before or since for me in central America! Although there is a roof terrace and pool, when we were there in February, which was supposedly the hottest time of year, the water seemed very dirty, and it was too cold to use them well. The price was $15, but it was still overpriced.

I would not recommend it. We stayed here for a week in one of the superior rooms. The staff is extremely friendly and the hotel is very clean. However, the rooms and furniture are old and outdated. Very much in need of an upgrade. Good location but overpriced for a rundown hotel. Plenty of better places to stay in this price range.

Nice place to start your adventure in San Jose. The La Cabana Park is walking distance and the Paso Colony, Market, and City Center are only a 35-minute taxi ride away. This is a calm and tidy hotel with helpful staff, which has been added over the years. The rooftop restaurant, pool, and swimming pool are all available for a free breakfast. Highly recommended for groups or single families.

The hotel is clean, although the hotel smells a little musty. There is a lovely lobby area and a small, spotless pool. The wifi was comparable to most of the other Costa Rican hotels I've stayed in. The shower was excellent. I didn't mind the cushions, but the bed was pleasantly comfortable. At all hours of the night, I could hear people outside my room. I liked the location because it wasn't too far from the heart of town and I felt comfortable walking around alone.

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of a journey through Costa Rich. The airport cab drivers didn't seem to know it, but we found it without any trouble when we saw the address. The staff is pleasant and helpful but do not expect them to speak much English. Our room was basic and had some exciting wiring for the to and shower. Both, however, worked fine. We returned to the hotel on a Friday night and had trouble finding a place to eat. Being too tight to get a taxi, we wandered through the streets until we found a small pizza place. I had assumed that finding food nearby would be a little easier in San Jose. The pool and hot tub appeared nice, but we didn't use them because we were short of time due to flights and early starts. On a sunny day, the rooftop terrace area is very pleasant, and the breakfast is a costa rican rice and beans affair. Why don't we all do that? is well worth having. One thing to keep in mind is that noise is not very easily travelling in our rooms. We were unfortunate enough to share the hotel with what I believe was a large school trip of 1516 years old, who ran around, slamming doors and bouncing wheeliesuitcases down the stairs for most of the night and early the next morning.
