About Hotel Tabiya
Hotel Introduction
Traveler Hotel is located within Nakashibashi Shopping Street, approximately a 3-minute walk from the north exit of Nakashibashi Station on the Tōbu Tōjō Line. It takes only 7 minutes to reach Ikebukuro Station. Behind the hotel lies the renowned Japanese cherry-blossom viewing spot—Shakujii River, lined with cherry trees. Nakashibashi Shopping Street is situated just outside the north exit of Nakashibashi Station. Following the station’s opening in 1933, the number of shops increased steadily, leading to the establishment of the Nakashibashi Chamber of Commerce in 1935. Subsequently, the Nakashibashi Shopping Street Revitalization Association was officially registered in 1967. The shopping street comprises Orange Street, Nakadori (Central Street), Ichiban Street, and Nakaginza, hosting approximately 200 shops offering a diverse range of goods, groceries, gourmet cuisine, fashion, entertainment, and daily-life services—including several long-established shops operating since the Shōwa era. The cherry trees along the Shakujii River nearby have been designated one of the “Top Ten Scenic Spots of Itabashi Ward.” During cherry-blossom season, the Nakashibashi Sakura Festival is held, featuring stamp rallies and food stalls—drawing large crowds of hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) enthusiasts each year. Additionally, other lively events include the “Navel Festival” and the “Thank-You Crab Carnival.” During the Navel Festival, performers parade through the shopping street with painted faces on their stomachs—the concept reflecting Nakashibashi’s meaning, “the center of Itabashi.” At the Thank-You Crab Carnival, participating shops offer special crab-themed menus.
