The property is peaceful and beautiful. They have 2 hammocks in the front, complimentary breakfast which can actually be accessed any time. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. It truly is a peaceful environment surrounded by the rainforest! We got room 5 upstairs which didn’t necessarily have a private patio but it does have a front patio that’s tucked away from the other rental units. The pictures are accurate, the rooms are snug. The a/c works very well! Water pressure was pretty good. Or room had 2 large windows that opened up and it was so relaxing!! I wish I had a full body mirror though. It was easy to reach the staff for any concerns I had. I think next time, I will rent the guest house suite for more space. Overall, happy with my experience !

They say life's built with memories, and memories here will definitely last a life time. If you want a place to disconnect and unwind, if you want to listen to the Chorus of the rainforest while relaxing in a pool, If you want a clean modern unique accommodation then Mata e Platano Guesthouses are for you. If it's not, book a Hotel Chain. We stayed here for 7days and it was magical. On the day of arrival you are sent all the information required on how to access the Carpark and Accommodation. Once you park in the secure property, you instantly hear the soft music playing in the gardens, Our accommodation had one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in, Large spacious Toilet and Shower. The room also has Air conditioning and a beautiful small balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The amenities, Breakfast was provided between 6am and 10am a basic mixture of cereal, waffles Toast and jams, Coffee and fresh fruit juices are also available. Enough is provided to begin your day. Then a few hours in the hammock listening to the background music. Now I have to say the Property lies in the El Yunque National Rainforest and as such the Nightly Choirs that the Forest provides from the Frogs and Birds is beautiful. BEWARE IT CAN BE LOUD. Ear plugs were provided to help people sleep or bring your own. It's the Rainforest, so it does rain ( Shock) Location to other attractions were great. San Juan is 30mins away local beaches 10mins away. Grocery story 10 mins away. 5 Star

Really helpful and friendly staff in an aptly located property (only if you have a car). The ones complaining about the coqui frogs should avoid traveling to a rainforest in the first place - we found it to be soothing. Highly recommend if your plan is to explore eastern Puerto Rico while being close enough to visit San Juan. The few things to improve (also pointed out by other guests) which were not a deal-breaker for us: - the mustiness in the rooms can be prevented by adding shower doors and running the AC at all times/adding vent fans to the bathrooms. I think it is caused by the shower water spraying all over the bathroom floor, the container isn't really a structure that breathes. - the placement of AC right above the bed was a bit too much. - a dedicated larger space for drying clothes would be helpful.

We stayed 5 nights and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. Check -in was easy, and parking was super convenient. The grounds and landscaping are absolutely stunning. Pictures honestly don’t do it justice. Our room was spotless, smelled fresh, and the bed was so comfortable. Having access to a kitchen was also a huge plus and came in handy throughout our stay. This place really didn’t miss a single detail. Falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest was the cherry on top. The entire vibe is so quaint, peaceful, and relaxing. 10/10 recommend we would absolutely stay here again.

This is an amazing property for families with teens! The guesthouse has 3 separate units that allowed kids to have their own rooms. The outdoor covered patio was perfect for gathering, meals, and listening to the coqui frogs in the evening. The main unit has a full kitchen and a bonus indoor hammock! The guesthouse is secluded from the rest of the units and has a private gated entrance. The property is in a quiet area yet close to beaches and other attractions. I would definitely recommend!

All potential visitors should read about Mata on their website- it is not your everyday hotel. The rooms are (nicely) converted shipping containers as shown. They are smaller than your average hotel room. Great for sleeping and showering. The breakfast area/ room offers morning cereal, toast, waffles juices and coffee. It is self -serve. The coffee machine offers many coffee types as well as hot chocolate. It was delicious- above average. Note- this is self check-in and departure. Communication is by email. The property is gated. The grounds offer numerous sitting areas, many shaded. They are well maintained. The pool area is pleasant and has seating as well as shaded hammocks.
