Great location…25 steps to Bangor train station. Friendly warm staff. Authentic Thai food available in their restaurant.Downstairs bar had small groups of friendly easygoing young crowd (not loud or unpleasant) Owner Ms. Su is actively committed to her business and is available to guests for compliments or complaints. Local busses leave within one to 4 blocks for various locations including Snowdonia.

We really enjoyed our stay. I would give it six stars if I could. Letting us check in early to making special meals for us Su made it feel like home.

The proprietor, Sue, is an artist and it shows. Everywhere you see a special touch of interesting art and decorations. She is also Thai so there is a Thai buffet on Thursdays. The food is delicious. The rooms are renovated and comfortable and everyone working there is exceedingly helpful. Try this place since you can't beat the price or location, right across from the train and bus stops.

It's an intriguing mixture of an old opposite-the-station hotel, but with beach bar vibe and student staff, and hang out for some locals, even at 8:00 in the morning. I appreciated the on-site parking and the friendly welcome. Food was good. I missed the advertised Thai breakfast the following morning, but had excellent Pad Thai the previous evening. There's a theme here - the owner/manager is Thai. It's not quite sure what it is. I saw somewhere that it was described as a bunkhouse. No, it's at least a guest house, almost a hotel, though it still has a handful of rooms that are not en-suite. So its identity is confusing, but it was welcoming and comfortable.

Central to the university. We needed to move our son from one house to another which was within easy distance. Parking private and next to hotel. Everyone courteous .

Hotel name is not visible from the street. Parking on site was appreciated. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was 'open' but the cook was not there. After a while they reached her by phone and she would be there in 15 minutes, and was told to take our orders and I paid for two 'specials'. After arrival, the cook/owner(?) came out and chatted with several locals and then brought her dog out to visit with a guests dog. Later she came out with a hairnet on making me optimistic. We had an overnight flight and a long day to this point. One couple came out of the kitchen with full meals. We watched them eat and take home the leftovers. Keep in mind no one had ordered food before us. Next, another couple were served, and ate their food. Clearly they noticed we had been waiting longer. After a while my food came out. 10 or 15 minutes later, my friend was told the cook read the order wrong and was now going to remake her food. By now I was finished, the bartender offered my friend a glass of beer, same as we had on arrival. By then she was past it, we were tired, hungry and angry. Eventually she got her food, and ate alone. Our meals were not worth waiting ..and waiting for. We were there for hours. The cook coming out and apologizing would have been a nice gesture. The next night we went elsewhere for food.

Conveniently positioned to enable an easy stroll to the city centre and theatre at Pontio. Luxury of off road parking. Surprisingly quiet. Menu looked very extensive and wish we’d eaten there in the evening. Breakfast portion size was enormous and tasty!

Room had no carpeting only cushion floor in black & white pattern which was well worn. Furnishing was uninspiring and well used. Not the most comfortable of beds. Unfortunately in the yard outside of our room was some type of generator which was noisy and was switching on and off overnight. Parking was very limited. Overall very basic. Gentleman who greeted us was very pleasant and welcoming and nice courtesy tray in room.

First of all, the landlady was really lovely, and she cooked a great breakfast (not included, but not expensive) The rooms are above a fun pub, with a friendly atmosphere. My room was Very spacious. The water was hot, shower good & there was Liquid hand soap & body wash provided. A Kettle is provided with tea & coffee. The Hote/pub is Right next to Bangor station, with regular buses that run into town, or a 20 minute walk. There was a car park next door too. But the room was pretty tatty, and in desperate need of a lick of paint & some tlc. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, with a thin but sweaty synthetic duvet, & thin pillows. There is no fan or aircon, but the windows open onto the outside seating area and a very busy road so very noisy if opened.. they are double glazed though, so they do shut out a lot of noise when closed The pub plays music inside & outside - fairly loudly (there is actually a speaker outside), although it is turned off later in the evening. Last gripe.. the cups provided were tiny, and there wasn’t enough milk.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness and quality of the rooms/bathrooms were disappointing. I understand that a bunkhouse is a low-cost option and not to expect luxury, but I did not feel very comfortable here. On the plus side, the restaurant served wonderful food (my dinner was delicious) and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
