My visit was on the final leg of my trip from Portugal with my 5-year-old child, and I stopped at La Gander. When we arrived, isabel, who couldn't speak English, made the best efforts to explain everything, took us to our stunning room in the eaves. Her husband, Javier, can speak English. The entire area is beautifully designed and furnished, with genuine attention to detail. The decor is traditional and in keeping with its age. There is a lovely garden where you can sit and a living room. Our room was roomy and peaceful. Our hosts and the other guests enjoyed supper at Rp. As a result, we had a tasty and warm salad of locally grown produce in the starter runner beans, boiled eggs, and potatoes. Simple yet delectable. I need that recipe! For the main meal, we had cured roast pork and a chocolate torte. All were followed by red wine and coffee or tea at the end. Even though I struggled not to speak Spanish, it was lovely to converse with the other guests. My toddler was a turtle spotting in the area, so my double room, dinner, and breakfast were quite reasonably priced. I had a wonderful peaceful stay with the best hosts. Isabel is an amazing cook and we loved eating her delicious regional cuisine outside in the beautiful garden. Javier is a wonderful host who made us laugh and feel very welcome. We were a family of three and had a lovely suite on the top floor with a fridge, sofa, and fan which was great during an unprecedented heat wave in the region. I only resisted recommending it because I would like to keep it private so I could go back.

I will stay there again and with my friends if you want peace and quiet and nice owners and good food. The garden or living room have wonderful food prepared by the owner.

This classic, charmingly run old-fashioned country inn is a treasure that keeps returning guests year after year. The generosity of xavier and isabel has created a friendly world where dinner conversations with other guests are as much a part of the magic as the traditional farm manner this lovely family has preserved. The setting north of Burros along the headwaters of the bro feels like a secret part of northern spain, with paths through fields, rivers and streams, canyons, and atop limestone cliffs. One of my favorite locations in the world.

I stayed here with my wife and Labrador on our way to Salander. The location is beautiful, and the suite we had was one of the most beautifully furnished and appointed rooms we have stayed in. Javier was a great host and very helpful. Will definitely come back.
