We recently stayed at Glenthorne for two nights, and we had a double room with a secure, which was beautifully decorated, clean, and, despite the fact that we didn't meet the hosts due to Couid, Clare was available via text to provide recommendations. Glenthorne is a very quiet house, so we hardly heard any noise during our stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom had high-quality toiletries, and the room had complimentary Welsh cakes, milk, and water, which was a really nice welcoming touch. We stayed here to hike up Pen y Fan, which was the ideal distance it's around a 20-minute drive, and although we made the most of our stay, I wouldn't be in the mood to travel back to this part of Wales. The reasons I gave the review excellent rather than outstanding are as followsWhen I booked the room, I was informed that there was no parking, but it stated that parking on the road was unrestricted, however, we did find that the cul de sac was too crowded to park in and there were many drunk people falling in and out of pubs. When we drove through the center to find a nice place to have a few drinks or some food, we were shocked by the atmosphere in the town there were bouncers on all the pub doors and plenty of drunk people

We are very happy we made the decision to stay at the studios at glenthorne during our recent weekend of traversing and exploring the recon beacons. Outstanding and quality are the first two words that come to mind when describing our stay and the entire experience, and they were obvious in every way. Claire provides studio rooms that are of the highest quality in every way. Spotless, tidy, roomy, fully equipped and every last detail thought of as you enjoy your stay, you keep discovering things claire thought about and included. Having a super comfy bed, a modern kitchen and bathroom, and plenty of hot water were all like new. Then add in freshly baked welsh cakes the finest welsh cakes ever, a vase filled with fresh flowers, water and milk, high-quality toiletries, luxury linens and towels, usb charging power outlets, plenty of mirrors, great heating and ventilation, washer and dryer. Simple but effective approach to recycling and waste, all accompanied by delightful communication on arrival and throughout. We had a 15-minute drive from the heart of the recon beacons and completed an incredible 4 hour 70 km cycle beginning and ending at glenthorne. Several supermarkets are also a short distance away. I would not hesitate to stay here again and suggest anyone else stay here! I couldn't have selected a better location to stay in martyr. We didn't park on the grove as recommended, I'm assuming it was a busy Saturday, but we still managed to park pretty close. We stayed to do some walking in the beacons and it was so nice to return. Lovely and clean, the rooms are well done and genuinely have everything you need shower gel, tea and coffee, a garment steamer and my personal favorite, fresh milk. There was even an emergency sewing kit in the vanity drawers! Food is plentiful nearby if you don't want to go outside.

We have just returned home after a fantastic stay in one of the studios at Glenthorne. Claire, the host, was very accommodating and helpful from the time we reserved our stay. The studio we stayed in was spotless and catered to all our needs. The fresh wheat cakes left for us were a really nice touch. We also chose the continental breakfast, which consists of 2 gorgeous fresh croissants per bag with fresh butter and a choice of jams, lots of fresh fruit, greek yogurt, fresh orange juice and a lovely muesli. Which really prepared us for the day ahead. We couldn't fault anything and will definitely be back in the future.
