We arrived at 1 Hotel Melbourne in a state — and left as devoted fans. We had driven down from Sydney to collect our new Labrador puppy, Titus, and were on our way home when the car failed on the Hume Highway. What followed was five hours stranded roadside (the state of that road is a national disgrace in its own right), a long wait for a tow, and then another hour and a half back into Melbourne. By the time we pulled up at the hotel we were frazzled, filthy, and travelling with an eight-week-old puppy. Very few hotels will take a dog at all, let alone at short notice, let alone a puppy. 1 Hotel Melbourne didn't merely permit him — they embraced him. Bedding appeared. Toys appeared. Titus was greeted like an honoured guest by every single person we passed. They arranged charging for the car without our even having to ask twice, and when they understood what sort of day we'd had, a complimentary glass of wine arrived in the room. It was the kind of gesture that says someone was actually listening. What struck us most was that the excellence was not confined to one heroic individual — it ran right through the building. The valet, the concierge, the front desk, room service: every single team member was warm, unflappable and genuinely kind. For a new establishment, that consistency is remarkable. Most hotels take years to find that rhythm, if they ever do. Our daughter in the States had told us 1 Hotels was a wonderful group. She was right, and now we understand why.

This was an amazing stay, tbh... from the greeting at Valet Parking, through reception, and at the Bar - everyone made us feel like true guests and that they enjoyed working at 1 Hotel. The room was sensational, and the bathroom incredible. Breakfast in room was a real treat... total value for money.

One of the best hotel stays we have ever had! So beautiful, with such lovely eco friendly touches. The pool and spa wellness area is absolutely incredible - I actually think the photos do not do it justice! I could stay for days and not leave the pool area! We cannot wait to be back

New venue located in a great part of the city. Luxe experience for sure. Check-in and front door service teams set a great tone when we arrived. Recommend Riverside views to better enjoy the city. Drink selection and daily variety for events they curate for guests a really nice touch.

The best hotel I ever stayed in. Everything was fantastic, especially the staff. Every employee we met was kind, eager to help and with such a great attitude. The hotel is beautiful and calming, like an oasis in the middle of the city. Our room was absolutely stunning, spacious, comfortable, well stocked with everything we needed. Breakfast was a la cart and delicious. We especially liked the breakfast waitress, can't remember her name but she arrived 2 months ago from Peru. She was charming. The hotel is a little outside the CBD, in the Docklands so not close to all the main attractions but there were plenty of restaurants around and we took an Uber to the downtown to see the sights. Would love to stay again next time we are in Melbourne.

We (family of 4 with two young daughters) loved our stay at 1 Hotel Melbourne. It is a lovely new hotel with very modern rooms and facilities; lots of timber, earthy tones and beautiful feature plants. The immaculate indoor pool, sauna and steam room were very much appreciated on the cooler rainy days. The reception and concierge staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We could not fault our stay at Hotel 1 and will stay there again when we next visit Melbourne.

Great hotel. Highly recommend. The pool was very relaxing although there are no adults only hours so there were often children playing quite loudly.

Spa pool does not have changing room, expensive food items, including bottled water are the negatives, otherwise nice rooms and excellent staff!
