Highly recommended. This area is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very friendly and can't wait to help you. The grounds have stunning gardens. The rooms are beautifully decorated with local furniture. Nice dining room with meals made with local ingredients. The owner, Nick, is very kind and loves showing you around and talking history. If you're lucky enough to be here on New Years Eve, they have music and dance by the locals followed by the traditional burning of the effigies.

I stayed at my cousins home about 15 years ago, and it was a highlight of my journey. I was really excited to return and share the experience with my family. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations and appears to be in terrible shape at the moment. The grounds are beautiful and amazing as before, although it seems that they are unfortunately not being maintained well. Despite being 400 years old, the facilities appeared to be in much worse shape now than they were 15 years ago. My experience at the restaurant was awful. It started in a lovely dining room with a fireplace, paintings, and artwork. The staff was impatient and cold, they would stand nearby watching videos on their phones rather than making sure guests had what they needed. The food was okay at best and very inconsistent. The tilapia was good. The frittata was dry and difficult to eat, and it had no flavor. The pasta was inedible. The owner and associates were around and abrasive, which made the experience much worse. They are Englishspeaking, noncuadorians going as far as screaming at Spanishspeaking guests, including screaming at infants. It was honestly shocking. It was simply shocking. Ive never seen anything like it. After dining, we spent time walking around the grounds which are very beautiful, if in disrepair. I recommend seeing the property, but I cannot recommend eating

Hacienda cousin was our first stop on our journey and our introduction to Ecuador. What a fantastic way to begin our journey. The setting, lodging, hospitality, and food met all our expectations. The staff were patient, gracious, kind, and eager to make our christmas special. We appreciated ongoing and unexpected kindness from staff and owner alike. Our room was very clean, with a cozy fireplace that was lit every evening by staff, and hot water bottles that were placed under the covers was an appreciated extra touch. Our day trips from the hacienda were planned and instructed by the staff and every day was special. We enjoyed trips to the market, traditional wool weaving demonstrations, horseback riding, and flowers. Yet, sitting in the magnificent gardens on the onsite was equally rewarding. Our owner-host nik made us feel special, and the conversations we enjoyed and the tales he told were great. We highly recommend this destination for a weekend getaway or multiplied experience. How often do you get to sip tea with new and old friends?. At the base of a towering, lush, green, volcanic mountain. It will be cherished for us.
