In May, we went to batten with my partner, and we were surprised that most restaurants are closed on Mondays. Luckily, we went down the river for a walk and discovered the restaurant, Alte Gerücke. A small place with a small terrace and a sun deck facing a garden inside. Most of the dishes were made from local and homemade ingredients and they were wonderful!

Hotel Alte gerberei is run by a really nice couple, and it is located directly on the Spree River, across from the old medieval centre of Batten. We were travelling with a five-year-old, and they made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to accommodate us. The five-year-old is incredibly picky about dinner, they asked what she liked to eat and then put together a plate of buttered bread, cucumbers, carrots, and salami that she proclaimed was the best thing she had eaten on the trip. Our grownup dinner was so delicious that we had the exact same meal the following evening grilled salmon on spinach with noodles and salad. Also, they serve a superb beer called Batten Super. The hotel itself is quite cool, it's an old tannery that has been beautifully finished and surrounded by lovely gardens where you can relax in the sun. You can walk out the back door of the hotel, cross the bridge over the spree, and straight up into the old city where you can stroll aimlessly and get lost in the narrow cobblestone streets. If you're traveling with your child, one next to the hexenhauschen across the bridge, and another a little further up the hill across from the historic waterworks tower, you can also climb to the top of the water tower, which is interesting because it

This hotel is perfectly situated on the banks of the Spree river, opposite the old town. The river is a great place to rest, and you will sleep in no time. Most local attractions are just a few minutes away, and you only have to cross a bridge and climb a few steps. Small rooms with comfortable beds, parking on site, and a tasty and generous breakfast are all included in your vacation to joyce's capital.

In the middle of December 2018, I stayed for five nights to observe Batten's christmas markets, which included glitz, local, and eventually dressed. Batten is a lovely little town with charming boutiquestyle stores and charming restaurants. The town was decorated with large and small Christmas trees and seemed festive. The hotel, Alte Gerberei, is located at the base of a charming medieval tower that had previously formed part of the city walls. My hotel room was immaculate and tastefully furnished. Breakfast was served in one of two cozy dining areas. My host, Kathryn, was warm with a guten morgan and breakfast. The hotel is centrally located about halfway between glitz and dress distinctly worth a visit. Overall, my stay at Alte Gerberei was as relaxing and charming as I had hoped for, and I would not think twice about recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a similar, relaxing holiday during the christmas season.

I ate here for one of my three nights in Batten, while being somewhere else. It was by far one of the greatest meals I'd had in a while. I had earlier that day walked by the hotel and looked through the gate at the back into their lovely outdoor garden, before deciding to come back for dinner. The cuisine was excellent, and it was brought to life with care. The location in the courtyard was unique. The hotline had a lot of commentary on the proprietors' personal attention and good taste. I was introduced to one of the proprietors on the way out to thank her, and I believe she was serving me. very comfortable. I had the impression that batten natives make up a major portion of the clientele. The setting is in an ancient home right outside the Spree, the same one that traverses through Berlin, and features an outdoor patio in front along the river, making it the perfect spot to relax. And I want to go back to eat inside the dining room as well! With the combination of cuisine, owners, and location, it is hard to create a more satisfying dinner experience. Finally, on the rock cliffs in front of you, you are treated to a magnificent view of the city's walls and towers that are lit up at night, along with the spree itself.
