I would never recommend to anyone to stay at Hotel Volbilis. It is one of the beautiful examples of Casablanca art deco legacy. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is really worn out and waiting for a significant financial injection. I enjoy the exterior and don't even think about staying here.

I suggest trying this place because the price is low. This place has a secure place, a very friendly staff, is close to the city center and is reasonably clean. But do keep in mind that the hot water in my room works. I was really surprised by this place. After that, I have to change rooms or hotels. Besides that, I didn't get sick from the food here.

To begin, I actually had the ability to look at two rooms because my first one did not have a heater that worked. Anyways, to begin, you are greeted with a very fancy lobby. The rooms are also decorated pretty well, but have it’s quirks. As I said, my first room was decently sized with a nice shower/tub, but I had to switch rooms as I wanted a room with sufficient heat. The room I was moved to was a lot smaller and cramped (where you had to step over your bag) and only contained a shower (which had hot water, but only for a limited time and I had to ask the front desk to figure it out). There also aren’t any bedside outlets (in either room). In the smaller room, the only outlet available was in the bathroom while you could unplug the TV in the larger room if needed. The most significant issue is that the hotel is located next to a club, so you will probably be woken up around 3-4 A.M. by people screaming pretty loud. Because of that, I would try to get a room that isn’t on the street. Finally, breakfast was solid, offering baguettes, traditional pastries, the typical spreads (butter, jelly, olive oil, cheese) hard boiled eggs, yogurt, toppings (breakfast meat, tomatoes, cucumbers and oranges), ending with a choice of orange juice, tea or coffee to drink. There is a reason it’s cheaper, but it feels pretty nice overall. Just be warned about street noise and get earplugs if you are really needing to get rest (which fortunately I was indifferent about)

It was okay. A lot of Middle Eastern character to it. Overall, it was not bad. The people working there were very nice and made sure your stay was enjoyable. I was greeted by a friendly desk clerk who made sure all was set when I checked-in. My last night there, I had a pot of mint tea, and got to talk with some of the owners there too. They did help me with my Arabic somewhat. They do keep your room key when you go out of the hotel, but they are trustworthy and make sure your room is clean.

Hotel Volubilis is a colonial era art deco hotel in central/colonial Casa. It is run down but perfectly adequate. The lobby is almost a museum to the glorious colonial era, with neoclassical statues and heavy brocade curtains. It has a bar where you can get a drink (beer, wine, liquor) and the breakfast buffet is just fine, served in an opulent room. It is also easy walking distance to monuments (Mohammad V square, Casa Port train station) and not far from a tram stop. Perfectly adequate and pleasingly cheap!

The staff was friendly, and the hotel is centrally located. If you are looking for a low cost place to stay where you will be safe, and belongings not stolen, this might be your place.
