This was a difficult stay for us as we had bad news to share. But the stay made it so easy for us to deal with the situation. Sam was amazing with my daughter and the staff overall were amazing. The food was out of this world and the mocktails were amazing. Thank you to everyone who worked on Friday the 20th through to Saturday 21st.

Roomy dog friendly accommodation located off the courtyard. Not wonderful in bad weather as have to walk across the courtyeard in the rain to get to the main building.

The hotel and surrounding area are lovely. The food was great. The service was pretty poor thought. The staff were nice but there weren't nearly enough of them and they were poorly trained. On Sunday morning we were at our table for 30 mins before getting any food. Shame. The spa treatments were great though.

A lovely hotel. Our room was very spacious, with an excellent bed and a great bathroom. The dog friendly atmosphere was much appreciated. On the negative side, the restaurant wasn't brilliant and the nightclub style music playing at dinner absolutely did not add to the peaceful ambience! Although our room was generally pretty clean, the cleaning staff had overlooked the half sausage in a napkin hidden behind the box containing coffee etc, which was a little disappointing. All in all though, we enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our one night stay and your staff are what stood out for us. Though there weren’t many guests they made us feel very much wanted and at home. We reported a slight problem with a broken window catch that meant that in s high wind it rattled all night and they were apologetic and responsive. We didn’t get to test the spa or fitness facilities but the food was lovely and we thought the whole stay was great value for money.

Nice location, quite and relaxing. Staff very pleasant and helpful, accommodation very clean and spacious, heating was adequate for thi time of year, but in autumn and winter months, likely to be inadequate, as flooring in our unit was flag stones and pebbles in the bathroom. The breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal, the desserts were a bit pricey. We had a nice stay and would go there again.

Not a four star rated hotel. Breakfast wasn’t very good.

We arrived at 2pm, that's what hotels.com instructed. They wouldn't let us in our room until 3pm, and were anlittle condescending! That should be rectified. Not a good start. The pool was tired looking, some green mildew on walls. The Jacuzzi is no longer there, broke back in Dec. The room was nice, but no view like it said of stables? Claustrophobic really. Shouldn't advertise and view, if there isn't one. Hardly any staff around. Maybe 1 person at breakfast. Limited breakfast. Had a little boy with me, no children's menu. I wanted pancakes and a cooked breakfast but couldn't . The place looks a little tired, moral a bit malaise. I wouldn't rush back.

A poor excuse for a Hotel and Spa Resort. Shouldn't be rated 4 star. Lovely staff but run off their feet so rooms not very clean and long waiting times in the restaurant and bringing the wrong order. Only one veggie option which was very bland and not worth £12.95! The spa consisted of a small pool and a very small sauna, that's it! So sad as it is in a lovely setting but there was no one in charge and it looks there's very little money being spent on its upkeep and being run in to the ground. Definitely won't be going back or indeed recommending it to anyone.

We came for a four night stay from Cambridgeshire, a much needed break. The flower planters by accommodation are uncared in the courtyard looking shabby. Our leather sofa worn/dirty& tired looking lounge. The bathroom in need of a refurb. Cleanliness a little slack. Some mould issues around bath & the window. I can't for the life of me see why this is a 4 star hotel & if you are looking for that touch of luxury with a special someone I wouldn't waste money on this. The Bar area, disappointing, the furniture so worn. Simply not four star standard. However, the spa treatment was amazing but I was not given robe & slippers ahead of my 120min treatment but my wife was. We reported the hot towel rail not to be working. Used towel would need to be dried? Was there underfloor heating, if so, it wasn’t working. TV not functional due to lack of functional remote control. We addressed these issues three separate times. No one got back to us & the night porter had no answer. No doubt many would have had similar issues and reported but has there been an improvement? Clearly not. We also came across a under floor cable that was not connected & exposed. Watch out for the dust. We were woken up by an alarm early hours of morning & seeing the Night Porter running in the Courtyard shouting”malfunction” repeatedly. Hot breakfast portions inconsistent. Friendly service staff at breakfast. The hotel is charging 4* but is more 2-3*
