I booked this hotel after a fantastic stay at motel one in manchester and it was a very affordable option for edinburgh. The hotel is a great base to explore the city. Literally a stone's throw from the train station and car park, at the bottom of Edinburgh's old town and just over the bridge to the new town. We had a room overlooking Prince's Street and the Christmas market which made it even nicer. The hotel itself is clean and freshly decorated. The reception staff were very warm and friendly, and our room was ready minutes before check-in. We needed an iron and ironing board, and the reception had lots ready to go. The room itself was warm, spacious and comfortable. We didn't eat or drink, but the bar area looked cosy and inviting. Well definitely use this hotel again and book more motel one stays in other cities.

Ive previously stayed at a motel one. This visit wasnt as impressive as it should have been! Waverley station is only a short walk from the hotel itself. I was able to check in early because my room was tiny but clean and overlooked the bridge. The bar area was cozy, and the staff was friendly. The lack of hot food at breakfast at 10.50 was a significant letdown. For a breakfast without hot food, this seems to be quite expensive. The lack of Christmas decor in the hotel was another drawback. At the front desk, I inquired why there were no christmas decorations. They claimed it was a result of sustainability and that the decorations were made of plastic. What a really awful excuse! Why not discard the old ornaments and purchase decorations from sustainable ingredients instead of throwing them away? It was an unethical excuse. Another drawback was a dangerous plug in my room, see picture. Overall, a spotlessly relocated hotel with a cozy bar, but rather too many giggles and lame excuses.

We have stayed here several times and decided to stop for two nights while in Edinburgh for christmas shopping. The rate was extremely reasonable and we were given a room upgrade which was perfect and comfortable. Our bus home was delayed due to bad weather, so we ended up in their charming little bar area where we enjoyed a couple of well-made I to and good prosecco. We didn't take their breakfast offer because we had booked to eat breakfast elsewhere, but it looked really good. Great hotel, great location, and friendly and accommodating staff, especially as we were unsure if our bus was going to be running to get us home. The receptionist allowed us to reserve a room for a longer night and cancel if our bus came to an end. Which we did, ending up being six hours delayed and being able to cancel our room with no cancellation charges, once the bus confirmed it was running again. Everything was very helpful and reassuring.

Fantastic position, right across the street from the train station, at the heart of everything. Beautiful decor, all of the staff were friendly, the room was clearly marked, and my friend and I each had a room and were both quite different. My friend and I had a room and both very different, mine was huge and large, hers was very boxy and had a much smaller bed. Beds were comfortable and no noise from nearby rooms or corridors. Both of us said the same thing, our rooms felt cold despite having the heating on full blast. I searched for instructions on how to use it in case we were doing it incorrect My bathroom was quite cold and appeared to have no heating in it at all, and both of us claimed that the duvets could use thicker because they are wafer thin. The bar area is lovely, but it was always quite cold when people passed and the doors opened. We skipped the continental breakfast because Weatherspoons is directly across the street. The coffee in the rooms wasn't very nice, but that's a personal preference. Would I return, I would, but with thicker pyjamas.
