Billie makes a pot of coffee every morning for guests. Little Owl Café, a very short walk away, offers breakfast and lunch options. The common area is very cute and cozy. I stayed in the private twin room, which has its own lock.

Billie’s lived up to our expectations and more! My teenage daughter and I spent one night and loved it. Billie is kind and inviting. The hostel/house feels cozy and filled with history and memories. I was hoping to see the Aurora and managed to see a ribbon of dancing green lights right outside the hostel. There’s a wonderful cafe less than five minutes away. :)

This was the best hostel that I have ever stayed at. The inside is comfortable and homey and there's running water and hot showers indoors. Indoor plumbing the vibe there was really laid back and nice and the people who were visiting were great people. The staff were awesome. Billy is just a wonderful person. All in all. You can stay at a hostel and sit outside all day before you go back inside your tent or little cabin that has no running water to it. Or you can go to Billy's and have all the amenities of home

Close to the bus stops, Blue and Red lines. (No bus services on weekend.) If night sky viewing is on your list, this is a better location than the downtown area.

Stay was alright. Besides the little misunderstanding of if I was a local. But I'm not no local. Almost was turned down because of that. Not sure what that was all about but my stay was great after that. Great friendly atmosphere and people if you are ready to stay in a dorm type of place! I had a great time and experience!

Never stayed at a hostel before. Such a positive experience though. Billie is super friendly and so were the other travelers I met. Got to sleep with a clear roof overhead how cool. Coffee shop right down the street with a city bus stop to get around town.

Billie’s Bacpackers Hostel was wonderful. The house is really nice and the glass gazebo I slept in was so cool and comfy. Billie herself was really sweet. I will definitely come back one day.

I enjoyed the hostel, very clean, nice kitchen and baths, I would suggest placing some type of reflective tape on step on front deck, difficult to see step. I fell three times

Positives are that its affordable, mon-fri the city bus services make it easy and cheap to get around, the staff are very lovable, guests are quiet friendly and respectful and its a very flexible check-out time which is a big perk. Negatives are its a hefty minimum 2 to 3 hour walk anywhere worth going on the weekends with NO bus service. Definitely a tight squeeze with many guests in a small area, groceries and taxis are very expensive. If you stay in the gazebo you will be walking thru 5 doorways and 2 hallways to get to the shared bathroom. Overall a good experience if your flexible and willing to adjust

When I arrived, my assigned room was fully occupied. After consulting the management, I was assigned another room that was a bit more private & comfortable. I had to hunt for a towel to shower. This place is within a short walking distance to a few shops, but I would still recommend a car or bike to explore greater Fairbanks. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom/kitchen area was clean, and check-out was much easier than my check-in. Despite the small hiccups, I would stay here again and/or recommend a budget-conscious friend stay here as well.

Stayed in a large multi-bed room, as it is a hostel. The bunk beds were very creaky. Bathroom upstairs was pretty cramped and didn't seem to get cleaned the multiple days I was there. Pillows are flat, sheets and quilt were clean and comfy. Entry room has zero heating and door handle/lock was frozen, which is rough since you are asked to remove your shoes before entering. Great coffee shop walking distance, but not much else. Coffee is in the frozen room, consistently smelled burnt so I did not partake. When staff did come to "clean", she did it in her pajamas and just changed out trash, nothing else. She also did it early in the morning when everyone in the room was trying to sleep. Downstairs has a much larger bathroom. Kitchen and dining area are sufficient. Chairs in "living room" were very sunken in and uncomfortable. There is a tv, but one guest kept it on conservative news shows me entire stay and hid and slept with the remote. Lastly, I had some canned drinks by my bed and one or two of them were stolen. Another guest had some of her food stolen out of the shared fridge. Not sure if all this is par for the course for American hostels, but I was not impressed. Would definitely not stay here again.
