The hotel was really nice. The building's structure made it stand out from other hotels I've been to. I liked the little hangout spot they had in front of each door. The only issue I had was with the window in my room – it wasn't secure. I tried to shut and lock it, but the latch didn't work; I could still open and close it even after locking. I also wish the ice machine gave out more ice; it was one of those small portable ones that only dispenses a limited amount. Other than that, my stay was five stars.

We stayed here for the night and upon check-in we were greeted by “Jenny” who was the on-duty staff. She was very helpful and made the check in smooth. The hotel is updated and had a chic vibe. The room was clean. My only concern was the parking. You can park on the street but make sure you don’t leave any valuables. You can also pay for a more secured, gated parking area for $40.00. offered by the hotel. Overall, it was a nice stay.

A nice little gem with good restaurants (Tay Ho) nearby. Very clean place. Nice rooms. Great price. And very walkable not only to BART, but to the Fox and Paramount Theatres and to Jack London Square.

The building is lovely and beautifully furnished. My room was a bit more tight than expected but comfortable. The rooftop was a great space for a quiet hangout. Wifi was fast. Great small spots nearby like Little Bird bar, Golden Lotus Vegan restaurant, and Oakland Street Food Co. I will stay here again!

This little gem has become my home away from home in Oakland. It has everything you could want in a city that already has everything—great food, cool bars, amazing music, plenty to do, etc. It's all brand new in a renovated space. The rooms are large and comfortable, the bathrooms are sparkling, and the service is impeccable. There's a rooftop courtyard, a game room, and good eats and drinks right next door. It's more comfortable than anywhere else in the Bay Area, and just as accessible. Well done all around, Oaktown Roost!

The room was very spacious and comfortable. We appreciate that the windows did open and supply fresh. air. There is a lovely outdoor seating area on the third floor, plus a game-room with espresso machine, hot water, large TV, etc. on the 2nd floor. The lobby is cute as shown in the site photograph. Coffee shops, cafes, downtown, sites, etc. are all within a very close walk of this hotel. I went out every morning to try new coffee shops and cafes. The hotel offered great value for the price and I would stay there again. Evenings were a little loud outside, but we were able to get good night's sleep each night of our 3-night stay, after the neighborhood quieted down. The hotel requires guests to keep quiet after 10PM. That worked well for us.

Great stay. Easy online check-in. No door key is nice. Easy parking close by. Great location. Very clean except the floor in the main bedroom needed cleaning. No coffee or tea in room is a little bit of a bummer. However, we would definitely stay again.

A lot of character (high ceilings, solid wood) and the owners have clearly put in a lot of care and nice touches (like two lights in the bathroom--one full bright and a dim one for when it's 3:00 am and you don't want to jolt yourself awake!).

Online check in is helpful, as was keyless entry. The staff was very nice and helpful. The building itself is beautiful as were the rooms and the shared spaces. Be aware that there is a decent flight of stairs that you must climb to get to the rooms. Overall a great stay at a reasonable price. Definitely would return

This place is the best. Feels more like an airbnb. Rooms with no windows have high ceilings and a window on the ceiling so the vibe is more like a loft. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Perfect location 1.5 blocks from the 12 St Bart. Parking was $40 and super easy. Lot is across the street.
