Over many years, I have stayed in many hotels and houses. I own rental homes on the island of Kauai for the past 36 years. Our stay at the Western States inn was wonderful, the room was very clean with all items and facilities in good working order upon arrival and throughout our stay to departure. It was hot during our time in San Miguel, night and day, the air conditioning was great and ran well. The Manager, Prietes, was very attentive and pleasant, he checked in with us daily to make sure our stay was going well and if we had a comfortable room. He gave us great advice on where to go in the area for our needs, as well as, where to dine, his recommendations were spot on, he made our trip to San Miguel and choosing to stay at the Western States Inn not just a wonderful choice but an Outstanding memorable one. It is clearly an older property. But the rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, even though it is right off 101 it was quiet, the bathrooms are stocked with very nice towels, unlike what you usually find in less expensive motels. The showers were warm and had good water flow but could use an upgrade (but they were clean). I stayed for three mights while on a hunting trip and will stay there again. San Miguel is pretty much a wide spot on highway 101 just north of Paso Robles. Our double room was well under $100/night. Since we were out all day the lack of amenities like a pool or breakfast.

Beds weren’t very comfortable. Bathroom was the worst. I’ve stayed in in many many years. Made me long for the old two star chain motels along the highway.

It's a dump. Don't believe the reviews. Overpriced, dirty,noisy, old. Wouldn't stay again even though its the only place in town. 93° and the ice machine doesn't work. Very thin walls.

There was one Wash cloth and one dollar store micro fiber cloth like to Wash a car. The manager said we left the room dirty. Not true I Will take pictures from now on. There were two people two beds broken tub one coffee two surgers and no cream in the basket surgar was hard as if it was wet and dried. Manager said to My daughter that it cost money to Wash the bedding. I thought all motels give clean linen's. I'm sorry he was not liking us. I will stay clear of that business
