This is by far the most unusual place I've ever stayed in, but we still had a great time. After seeing the pops volcano, which on a side note is good to go to early in the morning because there is a long line to enter the park. You must have an ex-jeepsuvtruck to travel to this gem of a hotel, and the journey is quite bumpy My husband likes the ex aspect, but I am not a city girl as much. When we arrived, they didn't have our reservation, but they gave us two rooms close to the restaurant that were spotless but also very basic. There are also cabins with beautiful views available. We didn't get to visit them, but if I were staying longer than one night, I would have preferred. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it was fantastic and fresh. This is an adorable family-run fantastic hotel. The accommodations are quite rustic and you must have a sense of humor, but we laughed and had a great time. No internet, but we spent some time on the porch enjoying the food and views, and a mother horse and her pony played out back and hummingbirds came by for drinks. In the evening, we played dominos and drunk wine, which was quite relaxing, and believe it or not, I would return.

The trip down to the lodge was challenging, to put it mildly, and impossible without an ex. We were a 4-person party, and we were given a 3-bedroom cabin. It was fairly clean, but it was quite basic with concrete floors and little comfort. The entire cabin had no hot water, and the toilet door was absent. The family who ran it was friendly, and the supper was fantastic. Breakfast was basic and had few options. The views were fantastic, and we enjoyed our stay, but improvement is required to be done on the lodging.

At Lagunillas del Pops, we stayed for the night near Pops national park. However, even though the location wasnt great, I think I have received a lot and good service for my money. One warning, the area is only accessible by an ex. Before you get to the lodge, the road is extremely bumpy and challenging. Bring warm clothing for the second caution. Even though it is hot during the day, it can drop significantly and become very chilly at night, 1012 degrees celsius. Do not expect a luxury room, three warning. The showers lack hot water, and it is a simple room with a little humid. But, I have to say that we had a wonderful time there. The cuisine was excellent, some of the greatest typical Costa Rican cuisine I have ever had. The view from the balcony is spectacular, and it's fun to go horseback riding in the area. If you don't require complete comfort to feel satisfied, overall a great price.
