We loved this place. Within walking distance to the castle and ancient ruins, and restaurants. The host was very accomodating, and since we were leaving very early in the morning, she gave us a care package for the breakfast we were going to miss. The only concern was she spoke no English, so we had a little trouble communicating, and the price of dinner I think was 30 euros per person which was out of our price range.

Evans Family • Family Trip
We are a family of 6 from Australia and were just finishing a month-long holiday in Italy and the UK. We had an overnight stop-off in Rome en route from London. We had already seen the sites of Rome early in the holiday and wanted somewhere to stay reasonably close to the airport (FCO) that could take us all. We can sleep all in one room but prefer to have separate. The approach to the hotel is down a potholed road past fields (with poppies and horses). The buildings looked very quiet as we approached and we initially wondered if we were at the right place. We were quickly welcomed however and were really pleased we chose this. The buildiings are very rural on the outside but our "suite" was enormous with 2 double bedrooms (one with the requested cot) and two more singles downstairs. Beds were very comfortable and the bath/shower good. We had a fabulous full evening meal with all the couses (antipasti with the best mozzarella all trip) and wine in pottery mugs. Breakfast was pastries, sandwiches, cereals, juice and coffee with very attentive service. It felt very rustic and very far from the sameness of big hotel chains (it wouldn't be a natural choice for business trips though). We would have loved to stay longer to explore the grounds and nearby archeological sites of Ostia Antica but needed to catch our plane. A good find and we felt we'd managed to have another taste of Italy before we left

This is a wonderful place, but it is very important that you know what to expect and you need to have a little pluck to make it work. This is NOT a traditional hotel, but a family inn with working farm, do not expect Marriot. There are several different buildings throughout Ostia, so there is not always someone at desk; plus very little English. One set of stone buildings is the "country" rooms at the farm, this is at the 18 Via Rainaldo address. The other buildings are in the medieval village in town next to the main castle. The office is at the farm so if you have rooms in the medieval village, go to the farm and someone will drive you to your rooms. We stayed at medieval village. Rooms are like mini-suites; all different. Ostia archeological site is 5-min walk around the corner, perfectly placed. Do have dinner at La Cucina, the hotel's restaurant. Owner/son will pick you up at room and drive you. When we dined there we were only couple, they opened the restaurant just for us and cooked us the best 7-course meal I've ever had. Many ingredients grown on farm + cook was sophisticated gourmet who know's what he is doing. Fixed-price meal was 30 euros/person, including bottle of wine. Family is very into personal travel experience rooted in local culture; they do lots of courses, breed rare local horses on farm, etc. Wonderful experience of REAL Italy. Do print out their webpage with map and cell # to show cab driver so they can find it!

It was an incredible experience staying in a small house in the Borge - the old walled city, with its 15th Century castle, all a short walk from the Roman ruins. Advice: First, the Borge location is just inside the gate. It's associated with the restaurant (not always open) just outside the gate and with the Country location about a mile away. Phone ahead so someone will meet you at the old city gate. Second, the ancient ruins are vast. Allow at least four hours, more if possible. The time flies. Bottom line: the folks at Rodrigo de Vivar are wonderful, the Borge is magic and the ruins are incredible.

Located in a small town on the outskirts of Rome, this rustic retreat offers a feel for history and romance. Rooms are available in a rural setting or within the city walls. Although comfortable, the rooms are authentic to their history. Do not expect a full service hotel. However, you may expect personal attention. The location is within walking distance of the archeological site of Ostia Antica and a short train ride to the center of Rome. Make sure that they are aware of your arrival time since there is not someone on duty 24 hours a day. Also in walking distance are good restaurants and taverns with warm hospitality and good food. This place is recommended only for the romantic!

Lovely place to stay a night or several. Warm, friendly service, simple, honest food in a welcoming atmosphere. Do get there in good time in the evening to avoid the disappointment of finding the hotel looking closed (when it really isn't)

This hotel is in a 1200 year old piazza. Wonderful history surrounds you. The people do not speak much english but are very willing to try. The village is charming. Across the street the merchant wanted us to try all of his wines. Such a pleasant rest after the fast pace of Rome.

We did not stay in the main part of this lovely old hotel, but rather a room in the Country-Side ( by choice.) We were "escorted" there by a gentleman from the hotel, but prior to our going - we were provided with a basket of breakfast items that we could take to our room. So nice since were were leaving early in the morning prior to breakfast. The old farm house and accomodations were Wonderful,. The room was much larger than I expected, comfortable and clean. Horses, chickens, gardening on the grounds. A short walk to a restaurant where we had the BEST meal in all of Italy!! The Chef was the host, waiter, and of course cook.....What a Wonderful first nite in Italy!!! I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend it highly.

This was a great stay for us! We chose it because of the close proximity to the airport for our last night in Italy. That aspect was great...in 10 minutes, we were at the airport. But...we didn't expect such cozy and charming accomodations!! We were staying with friends, so booked 2 countryside rooms (the main hotel was full). I am so glad we did! We had two adjoining rooms (suites really) that shared a living room with a fireplace. It was nice and cool at night when we were there(early October), but the cottages DO NOT have air conditioning, which may not be so great in July or August. (There was a fan in the room). They were like cozy cottages...wish we had more time there. Each side had its own separate bedroom and bathroom. The bathrooms were super-modern and clean. There was even a little refrigerator in each room, stocked with beverages (available for a fee). Beds were comfy, although a little hard. Breakfast was very good: pastries, cappucino, fresh fruit...not a whole lot, but it was good. Some cautions: DO NOT try to find this hotel in the dark...it is very hard to find, even in the day. The countryside rooms are best for those with a car, as they are literally down a country road and away from any restaurants etc. Also note...chickens and roosters next door! Great if you want to get up early, probably not so great if you don't. It is RIGHT NEXT TO the CASTLE Gulio...and many ruins. We had planned to see them but arrived too late...looked very neat and worth spending half a day there. Everyone in the office that we encountered were SUPER nice!! Francesca, who was there to greet us, spoke perfect English. She was very helpful and even printed out mapquest directions for us to get to the airport! This was a great value, and a wonderful way to end our Italian vacation!

Este hotel está situado en un lugar maravilloso, junto a un castillo y una zona arqueológica única en Roma y poco conocidad. El staff es muy atento y servicial y uno se siente como en casa al estar en este hotel.

I arrived very late but got excellent treatment, then stayed in a lovely "apartment" next to the on-grounds castle. It was a dream!

I went to this hotel worrying because of all of the bad reviews it had gotten before, but it seems that the staff has read the reviews and taken the time to address the problems. First, we were just stunned by how beautiful the hotel was and the location. Very picturesque. It was close to the airport and easy to find (look for the castle turet across from Ostria ruins). When we checked in, the conceriege upgraded our room to a small apartment in the village with windows facing the medival village. We had a small kitchen and the bedroom was on the second floor. A fan was in the room, which served to cool it down and also drown out any noise. The hot water worked in the morning after the switch was turned on the night before to heat it. It was clean, just the chair coverings were stained and a little tired. The room smelled smoky - not from cigarettes, but because it was built in the 1100's and from years of fires. Parking was free and easy. The ride to the airport in the morning was easy too. It took 10 minutes in rush hour. All in all, it was a GREAT stay. Chocolate mints, toiletries (which we did not see a lot of in Italy), and a picturesque village made for a lovely stay. OH - and there is a FABULOUS restaurant within the ramparts. The food was inexpensive, the hostess was so sweet, and the surroundings were pretty. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

L'Agriturismo è ben collocato nei pressi dell'aeroporto e della Fiera di Roma non risentendo in alcun modo, per quanto riguarda i disagi, di tale vicinanza.

I was surprised to find a country retreat type location so close to Rome airporto stayed the night prior to flying out. Dinner was prepared by the farmhouse resident a trained chef who whipped up a dish from farm fresh ingredients. the settings are rustic with upgraded amenities. Wifi is limited to close proximity to the office. Overall, would stay again, a nice quiet get away
