The staff was so friendly and helpful. And then, we chose the hirayukan because it was the first time we stayed at a Roman. After that, the early Japanese bath and the traditional Japanese food that we tried while we were there were both excellent experiences.

The room is very large with 3 areas, the bedroom is separated from the main seating area, so very comfortable. There are also chairs and coffee tables in the room if you dont like sitting on the floor. The room offers a spectacular view, snowy landscape with flowing water, a bridge and if you are lucky enough, youll see foxes running around. Kiseki is very finely designed and crafted, service is good although you might want to remind them to slow down a bit in serving.

We chose to spend a night at Hikaru onset because we were traveling between Yasumoto and Takayama. When we first arrived, the town was in the midst of winter, and it was still relatively quiet the next day. The roman is a little dated, but everything, like a Japanese roman, was in good shape. The rooms were very spacious and beautiful. There is a tiny wooden gate leading to the rooms entrance, as well as a tiny zen garden in the room. The room had a bath and toilet, and it was very spacious. The rooms were very large with two separate sections one for the futons sleeping and another with the Japanese table and cushion for tea. Service was excellent and the receptionist speaks excellent English. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent Japanese dishes, and we were left extremely full and satisfied. Boxspring was a little smaller and older than anticipated. There were only 2 indoor baths, and the inside was a little dim and dim. The outdoor baths on the other were small, but the large one on the other was excellent. There isn't much of a view from either, though. The facilities are old but in good condition in general. The only peculiar thing was that there were hardly any other guests in the area probably because it was midweek and we felt like we were the only ones there. We didn't even see the staff in

The hotel is very big and offers a wonderful view of it's own garden with a fountain. The hotel staff and manager are very friendly! Because of our honeymoon, the hotel upgraded us to hide beef sushi! The room is very spacious, clean, and comfortable with views of the garden. Every night after dawn there is an on-off switch for guys and ladies. There are more than 2 open-air onsets, one of which sits in the garden. They are very nice and special! Their restaurant is amazing! Very nice presentation for the starter and each course was very delicious!.

Due to the revision of Takayama City regulations, the following accommodation tax will be applied from October 1, 2025 (Wednesday):

Tax rate (applicable for stays from October 1, 2025):

For accommodation charges less than JPY 10,000 per person per night (excluding tax): JPY 100
For accommodation charges of JPY 10,000 or more and less than JPY 30,000 per person per night (excluding tax): JPY 200
For accommodation charges of JPY 30,000 or more per person per night (excluding tax): JPY 300
The accommodation tax is not included in the rate displayed at the time of booking and will be collected separately.

The accommodation tax will be applied to stays on or after October 1, 2025, even if the reservation was made before this date.

Guests who reserved a room with dinner must check in before 07:00 PM or dinner cannot be served and no refund provided.
Pets are strictly not allowed at the property.
Please inform hotel for expected arriving time. Guests can use the Special Requests box when booking or contact the property directly.
