An amazing traditional Japanese inn in at the top of Mt. Mitake. Warm atmosphere, great views, and a pleasant staff helped make this one the highlights on my recent trip to Japan.

The host was very friendly and accommodating. The ryokan was up on a mountain and there was lots to see. The futons were very comfortable and the in-house breakfast was amazing. We really enjoyed the stay there and would definitely visit again.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, excellent food and stunning location. Aging hotel, but its scars add to its character.

Out of my recent trip to Japan there were two places that really made things special for me, this stay was one of them. We arrived very late on our first night, we barely made it to the last rail car up the mountain. when we made it to the stop the hotel owners were literally waiting for us at the rail building since they didn't want us getting lost in the snowy night. The food was super tasty, I HIGHLY recommend their dinner plate. Also, make sure to take a dip in their wooden bath, that thing will wash away any difficulty that may be troubling your mind. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the hotel itself was very traditional, not to mention the scenery was gorgeous.

I wanted a less expensive option to going to the mountains and seeing some temples than going to Kyoto or Nikko. Mitake-san is under 2000 yen and 2-3 hours by train (compare to Kyoto which can be 10 times that!!). I wanted to stay in a temple-type lodging or ryokan. This fit the bill nicely. The room was gorgeous and the robes and onsen (which I had completely to myself, being the only woman staying there) were so relaxing. I opted to eat at the hotel and the amount and quality of the food was just unbelievable! I didn't opt for the am waterfall purification however because it would prevent me from being in the onsen one last time! This was my one "expensive" day out (the rest of my lodgings averaged $10 a day) so for me it was good value in one of the most expensive cities on earth.

I travelled alone as a woman, coming to Mitakesan with the intention of going on a pleasant hike and spent the night in the mountains to enjoy nature. More than I had anticipated was given to me. Travelers might almost feel like family members in this santo cottage, which is traditionally spoken for as a women's retreat. There is a gorgeous view in the room, which is roomy and spotless. After a long day of hiking and restful sleep, I became so refreshed. Despite being not in the top five spots, the dinner and breakfast, which were both tasty and satisfying. Anyone seeking a rest after a hike in nature while being safe and taken care of should definitely stay at this inn.

The accommodation is basic but clean, and the start inside was spotless. Im not sure whether its the peaceful environment, fresh air, or traditional Japanese style sleeping on a futon, but I had the best sleep I have had in ages. At least at the rate we checked out. Com, breakfast and dinner were not included. The review and explanation of how to get there were also a real lifesaver! Its hard to believe this region is in Tokyo Prefecture. As you arrive, you can immediately feel the backpackinduced stress on the shoulders disappear! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. English is not an issue. The cuisine is traditional Japanese, and dietary requirements can be accommodated. Our dinner was excellent and plentiful. There are lovely walks and hikes in the area.

Around the end of September, I went on a solo trip to Japan at Komadori Santo. Booking was made on application, and it was simple enough. Also, it takes a while to get there from Tokyo. Take the yamamoto line to Shizuku. From Shizuku, take the or chum line swiftly all the way to Ome. When you get to Ome, take the or ome line which should be on the opposite platform to mistake station. From mistake station, cross the street and turn left to find the bus stop that will take you to the cable car the bus stop is clearly marked in Japanese and English. Take the bus to the last stop then up the hill to the cable car station, which is impossible to miss. Take the bus to the last stop then stroll up the hill to reach the cable car station, which is impossible to miss. Several forks are on the road, but maps are also posted and komadori santo is depicted on them. If you reserve meals, the hosts will confirm the meal hours. With a clear view of the mountains, I can not say enough about how great the cuisine was. At the same time, she offered me to visit the nearby shrine on Saturday, even to see a small shino ceremony. Everyone had a piece of wood from the ceremony to take home and had to eat it

I was hoping to give this location five stars, but the negatives don't seem that important to me. Cons 1 late check-in at 300 pm and check-out early at 1000 am 2 additional meals for food-behind-food restrictions dinner while the price of a regular meal was 2160. As a vegan I had to pay 4320 which I believe is quite expensive and the food was nothing exceptional. Vegetarian meals are $3240 but the dishes serve bonito stock, which I believe contradicts the idea of vegetarianism. Pros 1 roomy room, nice bathtub, good breakfast, and nice view from the room.

Unusual place. We enjoyed our stay in the mountains - it felt so good to get out of the hussle & bustle of Tokyo for a day or two. This place was in a beautiful location with fantastic views. They allowed us to leave our bags before check in & after check out so we didn’t have to carry them around with us. We went on a 2 hour beautiful hike. We only met the lady owner, but she was very friendly and helpful. Our room was traditional style and very large but basic. If you are OK with “rustic” - this is your place. If you want modernity & comfort, this might not be for you.
