Excellent location with a variety of pubs and restaurants nearby. The location is close to the major shrines, the street is quiet, and the room is nice and cozy. The breakfast was enormous, fantastic, and changed every day. The staff was friendly even though they spoke English a bit. The hotel is lovely.

The location is good, close to the subway station, lion, and restaurants, and on a peaceful, lovely street near a river. Plus, we had a lovely time while staying at this Roman.

This hotel has a nice position, close to the camo river, the lion, and Higashiyama area. We stayed in the annex on the other side of the road with our 3 small children, and it resembled our own apartment. The place was beautiful, and the view of a small stream was right outside the window. This was as close to the real Roman experience as I could get with the beautiful tatami mats and futon beds on the floor. The room was tidy and well-kept. The staff was friendly but had very limited English. The futons were fairly thin, and it took a few nights to get used to lying completely on the floor. If we go to Kyoto again, I will without a doubt stay here again!.

A lovely traditional Roman hotel with beautiful traditional decor rooms. A wonderful way to start the day is when the morning arrives, which is clean. The staff was quick, welcoming, and accommodating. The roman offers a choice of Japanese or western cuisine, and the breakfasts were excellent. The location is convenient for downtown Kyoto. The pop station is also only a 10 to 20 minute stroll away, making it simple to use the subway to travel around kyoto.

Overall a fantastic spot to stay and I'd suggest people stay there. With two small kids, we stayed here for three nights. It was fantastic. The apartment we had across the street from the hotel was essentially our own tiny flat. It had a large room with a couch, a kitchen area, and futons, as well as a large bathroom with a washer and dryer. It is in a fantastic position, within walking distance of so many things, and some major attractions are only a short bus trip away. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the room was lovely and tidy. We didn't include breakfast and dinner because our kids wouldn't eat it and I am a vegetarian, so I wasn't really taken care of.
