The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable. Excellent air conditioning and fan. There was no window to outside in my room, but i understood this when i booked a room, which was fine with me because i only sleep in the bedroom! Good size and places to store everything, including a lockable cupboard - bring your own lock. A nice touch. Clean shared shower rooms and bathrooms. Great and beautiful public spaces. You can enjoy a cup of tea, refill your waterbottle, and have some fruit - its great to be able to do this. The location is perfect, very central, and the owner of the business is extremely kind and helpful. Even lent us an umbrella. You can also do your washing here! Excellent wifi. We stayed from may 18 to may 23. As a devoted fan of heritage building, we longed to stay at a heritage home for our first trip to penang. We chose this location not only because of that but also because of the many positive reviews of the host, nichola. The double en suite with the private bathroom was in the new wing next to the original house, but we could access it at any time. Each wing had its own dining area where tea, coffee, sugar, a hot, ambient, and cold water dispenser were available for us to use. There were also cutlery, bowls, and plates that we could use if we ordered grabfood. The room was clean, the ac worked well, an additional wall fan to help with the weather in penang, and the hot shower worked. Laundry costs rm 10 per kg. Our two suitcases were brought to our rooms. Lebuh Armenian is only 150 meters away via lebuh akaa, where all the main attractions are, but lebuh is quiet enough in lebuh carnarvon. Lebuh Melayu, a block away, had many restaurants. Nicole and her assistant were both friendly and helpful. They had a variety of maps, sunscreen, bug repellent, and a first aid kit. She even assisted us in reserving bus tickets to our next destination. We loved it so much that we stayed an extra night and she provided the larger superior double en suite for the same price. Wow. Even though we loved the smaller intimate double en suite. We will definitely stay there again when we return!.4.8/523 Jan 2024

The kimberley room was wellappointed with clean linens and thoughtful touches, attention to detail is paid everywhere in the house, just as beautiful as the pictures show. Before i arrived, nictoria was very helpful with transportation options from the airport and gave me tons of tips once i arrived. I highly recommend carnarvon house!.4.8/530 Sep 2023

I already started sharing this place with my close friends. Beautiful old timber structure. Their layout is long and bright. Good air flow. Beautiful timber. The price is reasonable. Its not surprising that they are raising the price by 50 to 100%. Walking distance, i found many good places to eat and drink. A cozy, charming historic home has been transformed into a hotel. The hotel is owned by a friendly and caring family. The only minor issue that a sleepy head may occasionally overlook is that some visitors walk on the common wooden corridors late at night or early in the morning.4.8/59 Jun 2023

The hostess is very welcoming and the service is excellent. Tea bags, coffee and snacks will be provided to guests. It feels more like a bandB, a nanyangstyle old house with three entrances, and the public area on the first floor is very atmospheric. The facilities in the room we stayed in were older, and some areas were carpeted. It may be necessary to protect the wooden floors of the old house, which is understandable, but it shouldnt be cleaned daily. If you have a mysophobia, i think its enough for one night. We had a great time at carnarvon house and would definitely recommend it! Excellent central location near the clan jetties and heritage buildings. It was very quiet with little traffic noise and was located down a side street. Additionally close to the archaeological park, which was a lovely stroll, and a convenient grocery store with a grocer. When we checked in, nichola was extremely helpful and kind, telling us there was a market going on in the park. She was also very helpful with details about doing our washing inhouse, which was fantastic service. The guesthouse had two lovely common areas, with filtered water, selfservice tea, coffee, fruit, and snacks, and some basic kitchen amenities. The room was spotless and tastefully furnished, with some heritage features and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was spotless and equipped with some essential amenities, and fresh towels were provided every two days. The modern rooms had a lengthy staircase that could be challenging for people with mobility issues. Nicole was so kind as to assist us in moving our luggage upstairs, which we appreciated.4.8/511 Jan 2023

We like the ambiance of this charming house from the past. The staff, especially eva, were attentive and helpful in accommodating our expressed requests. They treated their clients as their own home guests. The guesthouse is located in an old heritage house, and the lobby and ground floor are impressive. The rooms are sparse, but the beds are comfortable. The shared bathrooms are clean but a bit outdated. The staff was very friendly, and all day guests are provided with water, coffee, tea and cake. The soap dispensers were empty (a bar of soap was provided instead, but it felt a bit strange sharing it with other guests.
