Amazing stay at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp Wilpattu The staff was so lovely, very enthusiastic about the experience and very professional. Our dinner was amazing, eating by candlelight, on linen tablecloths, under the stars with fire-flies blinking in the forest around us. Fantastic tent facilities - european toilets, basins and shower in each tent.. Comfortable beds and a quiet night's sleep. The safaris were great - we had a knowledgeable driver and Wilpattu NP is close by and very peaceful.Amazing !!!

Absolutely wonderful stay. We had a lovely time at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp. The camp itself was beautiful. The tents were well-equipped and private. We especially enjoyed the attached living area! Meals were good and the staff was very attentive. The post-safari teas were a very nice touch! Thank you for a lovely stay!

My wife and I chose to travel with a purpose. We wanted to see the leopards of sri lanka and wilpattu is a nice place to see them. After a great stay with the eco team at the ahaspokuna bushwhack camp the last time, we chose to stay at ahora in wilpattu. We had great attention and intrusive service throughout our stay. Fajita the camp guy was a lively, knowledgeable, anticipatory, and friendly host. I can commend his brilliant ability to observe the life around us and help us see them. The tent was comfortable and we were given all the guidance on how to use them. The basic shower and toilet was located behind the bed, a nice touch of luxury. A wise idea to have a sitting and living space in addition to the sleeping area. It is avoided having to leave the tent, particularly in the nigh for a call of nature because most other camping Ive encountered have them outside. The tent was clean and secure. We also saw a leopard, lots of spotted deer and pea fowl, monitor lizards, hare, tree squirrel, a variety of birds, and jungle fowl. The night walk was amazing and I would recommend it as a must.

We only stayed for two nights, with one excursion into the reserve the afternoon of arrival and another the next morning, and we had previously had a similar experience in India. We couldn't have anticipated the luxury of ritz-style lodging because star accommodation wasn't on the priority list due to the trip's primary goal of seeing the wildlife, particularly the leopards. Our driver, our spotter, one of the chefs who was not needed at the time, and our wildlife expert were excellent, excellent, and eye-witness! On our first excursion, we saw not one but three leopards, one of which stood quite pleasantly out in the field, as can be seen in the picture. Although this was the highlight, there were far too many other animals and birds to include them all. The tent we had was perfect, not star, but adequate for a few nights, with a living room, a separate bedroom, a loo, and a shower all located in its own area and accessible by a path there, and alone. Even if the meals weren't the finest we'd ever had, the cuisine was a campfire-style barbecue, provided for the table with a white tablecloth and napkins, which resembled Rhodes of Rhodes. The tent here is very comfortable, so they provide a variety of food, and also has friendly and knowledgeable tour guides. On our safari day in Wilpattu National Park, we saw leopards, sloth bears, other animals, and a lot of colorful birds. We also enjoy the great location.

I had a great tour with poor suits and saw bears, elephants, and many types of birds. Beautifully prepared. Submit had excellent knowledge. The camp is very comfortable and the service is impeccable. The meal was delicious and the evening meal at candlelight was very nice.

In the dry season in July 2022, we visited the Ahora Tented Safari. In the camp, we stayed in luxury tents, received excellent service, and a very competent team of drivers and naturalists on the Wilderness Safaris. The camp was nicely designed, and it was apparent that the goal was to create an inviting camp with a singular atmosphere in the wilderness. We believe the team accomplished that, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening meals under the open skies, including the nighttime bonfire feasts. Three people can easily fit in the tents. We are three people around 180 a.m. that had to move around with caution. However, it is tents, and that is what you should be mindful of. There is something wonderful about lying in the tent and listening to the elephants in the distance or the nearby small mammals, but there is nothing like luggage photo hunting in a crazy race. My path was excellent for us for a whole 12-day safari. For us, it was a great spotter and he was also determined to provide us with the finest possible experience by meticulously looking for the leopards we have never encountered. It wasn't just the lack of trying. In must, we also came across an elephant and frightenedly followed us, which my path also handled warmly. På ingen måder pengene værd. “Luksusteltet” var. Meget slidt, der lugtede meget grimt. Der kom en tynd stråle koldt vand ud af bruseren, ingen toiletartikler. Maden var det kedeligste vi har fået på alle 3 uger. Vi så en elefant, et par vandbøfler og en ugle på en 7-timers Safari. (I Yale nationalpark så vi Bjørn, 2 leoparder, elefanter, masser af vandbøfler og en krokodille på 3 timer) Alt i alt spild af penge!

So it turns out this property (Mahoora Tented Safari Camp) is exactly the same as the similarly named 'Big Game Camp'. Don't be fooled by the location on hotels.com map - they are one in the same place. But one costs 9x more than the other one. Yes. 9 times more. You will get picked up at the drop-off point by the same staff in the same car, offered the same welcome refreshments, have the same dinner, and be staying in the same campsite with the same staff and amenities, regardless if you booked for 'Mahoora Tented Safari' or 'Big Game'. That is because they are the same company and property. Now, you might be told 'Mahoora' has an extra course for the dinner, and perhaps it did have 2 appetisers instead of 1. We were told we would be unlimited drinks at dinner, but the second drink was devoid of alcohol. The tents for 'Mahoora' are a bit larger, but only a little. 'Mahoora' does include the safari for 2 (a cost of around $100 ) so you could say that 'Mahoora' is only 7x more expensive than 'Big Game' when you take that in account. Aside from the scam, for $600 you get a tent with no hot water, multiple holes in the tents for creatures to enter though (seems like it would be easy to fix), and an experience that doesn't fit with the 5 star price or marketing. Stay with 'Big Game' instead
