What a magical 2 night stay! Surpassed expectations. Room was A*, clean and spacious. The castle was elegant and homely. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Food was exceptional also. Would highly recommend and will certainly visit again!

Augill Castle is a very special place - we celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary there and it was perfect!. The ambience, the staff, all the quirky artifacts in the castle, it was like staying in someones home. I would highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed and we hope to return! Thank you Augill Castle it was magical!

We needed somewhere to stay after finishing some medical treatment and Augill Castle was perfect for us. The service was personal and thoughtful and the food was delicious. The weather was good too, which helped, but is probably less predictable!

Step inside Augill Castle and just let yourself enter an almost Alice in Wonderland world. Feel like a Tudor king having a toilet break on an old fashioned wooden loo. Spot the old fashioned record player in the bathroom. Have breakfast with perfectly mismatched crockery. Be encouraged to explore on your own rather than have a formal tour. Scare yourself to death by opening a door in your bedroom to find a single chair in a freezing turret. Staff were fun. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge for 6 hours doing a puzzle with a glass of wine. To top it off for us we got a spectacular Northern Lights display over the castle on our last night. Don’t expect a “5* resort” but definitely enjoy a 5* experience.

The property is decorated in a quirky manner - mainly antiques, but some modern pieces. It feels more like a relaxed home environment than a hotel. Breakfast and dinner was good quality, but dinner is not available on Mondays or Tuesdays.

We had the most wonderful experience at Augill Castle. The room and property perfectly fit what I was looking for - a very castle-like room without too much modern but enough modern to be comfortable. The food was outstanding and staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. I totally recommend Augill!

Every year I love visiting the castle and being engulfed in its charm and magic. It never ceases to amaze me that at more than 180 years old, the place can still be a hotel with a special feel of home when you enter. The new bar looks beautiful yet retains its business, and the food is as good as it has ever been. This year was even more poignant for me as I lost my husband in April at the age of 54, which was very sudden and far too soon. worried about how I would feel being alone for the first time, I approached agile with a bit of worry, but I don't need to have had any fears. The entire family staff welcomed me with open arms and helped me relax during my brief visit. It has always been our place of peace, and long may it continue to be so.

Such a wonderful property with so much character. You really are staying in an old castle. The entrance hall and reception rooms all reflect some of the history of the place. The staff, food and service were all wonderful. Even a present from Santa for the boys. An excellent stop off on the A66 to break our journey and we’ll definitely come back!

Beautifully and sympathetic period decor, couldn’t fault the food or any of the facilities. Very welcoming staff and excellent hygiene and self distancing during our stay. Without doubt we will visit again.

This is an amazing venue away from the hustle and bustle and set in beautiful countryside. The rooms are superb and the little quirky aspects like to self serve bar and private cinema make it lots of fun.

A perfect night away with friendly staff & everything you would expect from staying in a castle. The evening meal that was served was excellent & good value for money. If your looking to stay somewhere different in a picturesque part of Cumbria then look no further.

The Castle has kwerkyness about it, which is delightful. The period furniture is not overstated and works well. Our room had a 4 poster bed, which went well with the rest of the furniture. Having been in many hotels world wide I would say that this one is up there in the top 3/4.

Very quiet, great for a romantic getaway from the city. Close enough to drive or walk to nearby pubs and restaurants.

We were lucky enough to have a voucher given for our anniversary including dinner and breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hospitality could not be faulted. We stayed in the I master king room which was very eclectic. Bed and pillows especially very comfy. The bathroom was beautiful. Lovely little welcoming touches. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. Highly recommend a visit to this very different but lovely place.

A couple of nights in a castle, in a room with two turrets, a large bath, and a four-poster bed during a birthday party that turned into a wedding with an anniversary thrown in for good measure! A wonderful stopover, historic, unique, comfortable, and comfortable. Real fires, great food, a full bar, and the greatest dirty martinis. Overall, agile castle, celebrating the year in tidy, secure hands, impressed. A kind, dedicated family team anticipated all of our needs and attended to them with a grin and a desire that needs to be congratulated. Congratulations and thank you, guys..

The personnel here were so amazing. They have an excellent bar that has been refurbished. They serve really tasty food. I've been to the castle since it was so popular with tourists that I wanted to visit again with friends. The rooms were so lovely. And, wendy was so kind enough to take us to some other rooms.
