The check-in process would have went smoother if I had checked my email 😅. As I booked through Expedia, I was expecting to have the instructions on my expedia inbox. So, I had to phone the host for the instructions, which she happily provided in a text. Interesting way of checking in, with a code and a lock box. Although it's nice to be greeted, this way saved a lot of time in waiting. The hotel was clean, the smell when entering the room was clean, fresh. Nice toiletries, plenty tea, coffee etc. Kettle and a small iron and ironing board in the room. Comfy bed, at least I slept well. The only downside, for which I've taken a star is that the room next door was very noisy on the day of the arrival, some ladies/ girls, laughing out loud and could hear them as they were in my room. Every time they used the toilet, I could hear the door, water flushing etc...very loudly. After a full day of travelling, I would have appreciated some peace and quiet. I haven't made the host aware about this, there is a note at the entrance to keep it down and respect the other guests, but I suppose, not everyone is considerate and educated. The hotel is in a quiet area, couldn't hear the outside noise, just from the next door. I stayed in rm 4. At the time they were not serving meals, but there are plenty places where you can eat around, one of them is 5 minutes walk and they have a shop there as well. (On the expensive side). But there are supermarkets and everything if you need anything.

Room was clean, and nicely decorated in an old fashioned style with quirky art. Bed was clean and fresh if a bit soft. Dinner in the bar was quite nice, but service hours are vety short. We arrived 6pm as dinner was starting. We went out to an event, but the bar and restaurant was shut, and the building was all locked up when we arrived back just after 9.30pm. There were no staff.to check out with, and no breakfast offered.

The room was clean and tidy. I do have to say though, wallpaper under the window is falling off and also in the bathroom on the ceiling above the toilet. The heated towel rail arm was also loose. Room also seemed a little small, not exactly expected for what was supposed to be a superior double room.

Rooms were lovely and well decorated. Beds were really comfortable. The only downfall was dinner. We waited almost an hour for food and one meal arrived very cold. Shame as it looked good otherwise. The meal was removed from the bill.

The room was clean, comfortable and well furnished though possibly a bit cramped for 2 people. The heating warmed the room quickly but was very noisy. It's a pleasant quiet area but when there is any noise you can hear it, including anything happening in adjacent rooms. The stairs are very steep. It's a little odd having no staff on a desk, you just get a key from a lock box.

Needs to be shown better on the listing that the inn is un manned with no bar or food service. Had a small issue that was very quickly sorted out. Most likely will use again.

It's a beautiful Inn with a lot of history. The restaurant was closed when we got there, and after a long journey, we really needed something. Our room was pretty small, and we had no way to walk around the room with our suitcases on the floor.

Though the property was clean and cosy, the lack of staff was somewhat of a shame. The bar and restaurant was also not open throughout the four nights of my stay, something that I was only informed of in the days leading up to my stay via the messaging service on the Hotels.com app.

Location was good. Check in process was easy. The beds were comfortable. I don’t prefer to degrade but I also want to be honest though. The room was falling apart. There is obvious water damage. Drywall was falling off walls and ceilings. Several old patches. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The bed and bathroom were mostly clean, but the carpet was full of hair and probably hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There were several spider webs on the walls and stains on part of the comforters. Overall the place has got potential, but needs more attention to detail and overall maintenance. So, I’d only recommend it, depending what you’re paying for it.

I have passed the inn many times over the years and always wanted to stay . The photos online , pub with log burning fire , fantastic food . When I arrived no one on site pub lights on . Easy access to room which was lovely, read through the extensive and appetising menu , went down to find pub lights on but all locked up . Called the number to be told that they open at weekends. It was now after 7 , had to jump in the car and drive to nearby town , lots of fast food places an Indian Chinese restaurant. As a woman on her own I was looking forward to going down for dinner then back to my room . Came back again didn’t see a soul dark but pub lit up thank goodness. Not the stay I expected.

During my 4 day stay the room was not cleaned or checked, rubbish not taken away, towels not replaced. There was also no provision for breakfast as an option. Room tea and coffee were not replenished.
