What's not to like at the Grand Canyon. Every encounter with the staff was excellent.

The staff were incredibly helpful and some of the most friendly people I’ve ever met. They were kind and added so much value to our check in and check out.

Very clean and standard with basic amenities. Worth it to wake up and already be in the park with a view of the canyon right outside. Between the room and the canyon is the Rim Trail so there are people walking by. Second floor room may be better but it was very quiet early morning and at night, so first floor not bad.

Had a great stay in Kachina Lodge at the beginning of Feb 2023. We booked a 'partial canyon view' but the view couldn't have been much better. The facilities were fine and the staff were excellent. There was quite a bit of snow which in many ways made it even better particularly since we had clear, albeit cold, days. Most of the view points had been cleared of snow but you did need crampons to walk the rim safely as it hadn't been cleared. We were there for 3 days and ate in the El Tovar Restaurant, The Arizona Steak House and the Fred Harvey Burger. Many of the tables were not in use, presumably there are less staff at this time of year, but only had to wait one evening. With one exception the meals were good, but not cheap even by UK standards, the one poor meal being one of the three breakfasts we took in the Fred Harvey Burger; service was also slow that morning so we assume they had staffing issues.

Great Location! You can walk to restaurants, gift shops, trails and the Grand Canyon is in your backyard. The parking lot is small.

Amazing location, right on the south rim. Building and rooms are dated, but clean and everything works well. The reception for this property is in the lodge next to it (El Tovar). The people working at the reception were very helpful and housekeeping quickly responded to a request from us. There are restaurants and a coffee shop very close to the property, however take out/snacks are not available past 8:00 so you need to make sure you have food for the evenings.
