Our family loves this place and its the only place we will go when we visit our College student at Castleton. It is very close to the college and the tavern that is on the property is friendly with good food and reasonably priced. Our rooms are always spotless and if you need something - their service is outstanding and quick. The lake is gorgeous - such a peaceful and beautiful spot. When she graduates we will still go back!!

Beautiful getaway, family, and pet friendly beautiful lake views great lodge/restaurant directly across the street. Clean, comfortable rooms and beds are amazing, Continental breakfast is all you need to start your day! Staff is always friendly! Great activities for kids and families! Peaceful environment, quiet ! Beautiful views, don’t be fooled the rooms not closest to the water have gorgeous views. I stayed right over the water and it was nice as well. Amazingly clean - I stayed for a month, and sometimes could hear them cleaning. Unlike most places, they literally scrubbed the floors between stays. The office staff was very kind and went out of their way for the guests. Don’t miss the restaurant, which is great (and I’m a local so I know). A very good deal for all you get.

We arrived on a Monday in March, so it was very quiet. It seemed there may have been 1 other guest in the lake view lodge. The lake was still frozen, so it was very peaceful and beautiful. The room was large and spacious and evening seemed very new. The bathroom had an extractor fan for steam which was so nice. I stay in hotels all the time, including many 5-stars, and nobody includes extractor fans anymore, which is preferred when sharing a room with others. The shower was a pick tricky to figure out (even with signage taped to the mirror for how to work it), and the in room coffee station could use restocking with creamers and coffee stirs, but the little continental breakfast at checkout was lovely. A fridge stocked with eggs and yogurts, plus lots of coffee, muffins, granola, and cereal. We had a very nice stay. Most convenient place to Vermont State Castleton.
