We were glad to be able to travel this year after having to cancel our first visit due to a lockdown. Perhaps our hopes were higher than they should have been after stopping by the beautiful Almeida paradox on our way. Sadly, after spending almost 50 tours, this was one of the worst paradox encounters ever. First, the photos discredit the fact that it is on a very busy road that wraps around the hotel, with lorries climbing the hill virtually 24 hours a day, so no room could escape this. The front desk area was cold and out of date. The heating was only hardly functioning and there was very little hot water. Not a century old. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which offered spectacular views of the town below and the valley. Note that this was the same the next night, and when I went to reception to complain they hardly seemed bothersome. The bar is built around a spectacular central fireplace in cold, icy stone. Despite it being below zero outside and snowing, the fire was not lit either of the nights we stayed late in November. The dining room, which was well heated, and a friendly staff greeting, were its saving grace. The wild boar stew was my favorite, and the meal was shabby. The exterior was decrepit and summed up the general view that it needs to be updated.

During our four nights here, we went hiking and explored. a fantastic location to explore the region. We had a living area in a suite. Pleasantly decorated with a wonderful view of the city. Moreover, there was a lovely outdoor swimming pool while sunbathing. Since there is only a little steep trail, entering town takes about a foot, and at night, it isn't illuminated, so you must have a vehicle. In reality, we dined at the hotel every night. Breakfast and dinner were quite different. Breakfast was given in four shifts, and you had three hours to finish it. Dinner was a bit stressful. The hotel app indicated that you could make a reservation for either early or late dining. But I got a message that it wasn't required. However, we had to wait for 1, 5 hours when we got to the restaurant! When we complained, they got upset and claimed it was not their fault that everyone came at the same time. It appeared to be the episode of fawlty towers. They were running around. And the food was basic and expensive. The same thing happens every evening. We began eating at the bar, but there, it took some time before we were given food, and they said only one kitchen, so I start to wonder if it is not related to corona.

We have been to several different paradoxes in Spain, and villas were one of our favourites. We had lovely mountain views from our balcony and our room was spacious and comfortable. The king-size bad was extremely comfortable. Due to covid 19, the breakfast was limited to around 30 minutes, with turns every 45 minutes or so, but the waiters and waitresses couldn't do enough for us.

Nice location, easy to find, nice rooms, good service, friendly people bar and restaurant are okay, food is typical Spanish cuisine. Clean and well organized rooms with nice beds. Bathroom clean and updated.
