Watersmeet Homestead

Please read this document for important information regarding your stay at our property. (It is also in the house reference booklet on the kitchen bench.) Firewood is available to use in the evenings but you are welcome to bring more if you need.

As this is a working farm, there may be some work done with the cattle or in the paddocks during your stay but not near the house. The general rule on a farm is to leave the gate the way you found it, but please ensure that the street entrance gate is closed as the cattle have been known to go walkabout on to the street!

PRIVACY AND NOISE

On quiet country evenings, noise will carry an amazing distance. We ask that you please be considerate of neighbours and keep noise to a reasonable level at all times and particularly between the hours of 10pm and 8am.

BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS

Having said that, good music is an important part of the holiday experience and we have our beautiful Marley speakers for your enjoyment. Please leave the speakers in their original places so that we can extend their lifetime for all of our guests – on the bookcase and near the TV. You can connect via Bluetooth to “Get together Duo x 2”.

NO SMOKING POLICY

This house is strictly no smoking. For any smokers, we are sure you will enjoy the view whilst partaking outside the house and ensure that cigarette butts are extinguished and disposed of properly.

GATHERINGS AND FUNCTIONS

This property is rented out to private groups of 10 guests or less. Additional guests or larger gatherings/functions will require prior approval at additional cost. We are happy to discuss options and packages for weddings, hens/bucks nights, girls/boys weekends, etc.

WATER & SEWERAGE

This house has its own rainwater tanks, which are beautifully clean and chemical free. During the winter months (the dry season), our tank water supply becomes critical, so please be “water wise”.

There is also an on-site sewerage system, which will have blockages if any material other than normal waste is flushed down the toilet. Lined bins are provided in the toilets to be used accordingly for other waste.

WOOD FIRE PLACE

We all love the ambience that a cozy fire provides during the winter months. Firewood is stocked next to the fireplace for your use during the cooler season. You are welcome to bring or purchase additional firewood in town.

IN THE KITCHEN

The dishwasher is located in the kitchen bench just to the left of the sink. Use only the minimum amount of dishwashing powder as excess powder will cause the dishwasher to malfunction.

BBQ

We always have the gas for the BBQ turned off at the bottle. To turn on the gas – turn the knob on the top of the gas bottle. Please turn the gas off at the bottle when you are finished cooking.

GARBAGE BINS

Please put ALL your rubbish in rubbish bags, and then in the garbage bins located outside to the right of the laundry door. Extra rubbish bags are under the kitchen sink.

SAFETY

A fire blanket has been provided in the kitchen for any emergencies. There is a fire extinguisher in the pantry cupboard. Fire alarms and safety switch has been installed as per regulations. In case of an emergency – call 000.

CHECKOUT

Checkout is 10 am. Please get in touch if you would like a later checkout and we will endeavour to accommodate your request.

Please leave the property in a tidy state and return all furniture to its original place. The tariff includes a standard cleaning charge and additional cleaning will be charged at $40 per hour. Please note:

• Load dirty dishes into the dishwasher and start the cycle.

• Seafood rubbish/leftovers should be wrapped and left in the refrigerator or freezer.

• Rubbish should be placed in bags in the bins outside the shed building.

• Lights/fireplace should be off; all windows and doors should be closed and locked. The key should be returned to the lockbox.

Please check you have all your personal belongings with you. We will only hold items for 2 weeks before sending them to charity.

EXPLORING THE PROPERTY

Please wear suitable footwear (covered shoes are best) and protect yourself from the sun (sun screen, hat and sleeved shirts) even on cloudy days. Bring drinking water and insect repellant. Start longer walks at cooler times of the day to avoid heat exhaustion. Check yourself for ticks when you return to the house if you enjoyed a good bush bash.

Avoid walking alone, and plan to complete your walk well before dark. Tell friends or family where you are going and when you expect to return. If you change your plans, inform them.

Please also avoid walking during wet weather, as tracks can be slippery, especially after rain. Stay on tracks and away from cliff edges. Do not cut corners or create new tracks.

APART FROM ARRIVING AND DEPARTING, TRAVELING ON THE PROPERTY ON ANY VEHICLE IS PROHIBITED FOR YOUR SAFETY.
