The place is fantastic, just inside one of the old town gates. The location is in a unique and historic hotel that once served as the castle stables. The hotel is spotless all over. The front bedroom was large and spotless. This has one drawback. There is some street noise. The street outside is a kind of return used to enter rather than the old town. Finding a room in the back solved the problem. The a la carte menu appears so great that some of us opted for it and were not dissatisfied. Excellent beer garden with great local beer.

We were there on the recommendation of a sister hotel. The restaurant served delicious and authentic meat. The starters such as smoked venison and tough chicken were served with prisleberries and are healthy. The most incredible dish was the red cabbage. Unfortunately, the large portions made no room for the delicious desserts on offer. Will certainly visit Freistadt again. Beautiful hidden region of Austria.

I will come back to stay here. While on the way to lunch we stopped at a nice sunny terrace and ordered the day's menu. Starting with a vegetarian dish with a very good soup. Good value, freshly prepared food, and very nice service.

The service, cleanliness, and quality at all costs are excellent. This hotel is quite charming because it is situated in the old town and a short stroll from Freistadt Castle. The rooms are split over what seems like a tangled mess, decorated with hunting trophies from the past, and the hotel has a restaurantbar for those who don't feel like leaving at night. There is free wifi in all rooms, although they may need soft renovation or at least some resemblance, which could be a piece of the charm.

I recently stayed here for 6 nights. I love the very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms are quite different with an original layout. The bathroom is spacious and looks clean. The staff is very helpful and even though they don't speak English well. Well worth a visit.

2 rooms booked upfront. No issues. Hotel includes also a restaurant with Austrian and seasonable food. Breakfast included. Small Parking area in front of the hotel. More parking space on the backside of the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Man war genug freundlich. Das Zimmer war renovierungsbedürftig, Lampen ohne Glühbirnen, Mischbatterie im Bad defekt, keine Haken oder ausgebrochen. Das Bad war sehr klein. Im Gang Stufen rauf und runter. Die Rezeption selten besetzt. Check-out um 10Uhr (wurde mir auf Nachfrage aber verlängert) und die minikleinen Teller beim Frühstück wirken unfreundlich. Auf jeden Fall nicht das, was man von einem 4Stern-Hotel erwarten würde - Einstufung rätselhaft.
