This is the kind of property I like when I come to Muskoka. Lots of cabins and trees and walking paths. Lots of water frontage. Very charming.

As one of the former "grand dames" of the Muskokas, Cleveland's House has seen many, many seasons. The location is absolutely unparalleled; the hotel property itself is working on modernizing its facilities. Although you shouldn't go there expecting the amenities of a luxury resort like the nearby JW Marriott, for the price paid, the value is exceptional. 10/10 would recommend, and would stay there again, for anyone for whom budget is a more important consideration than luxury.

Muskoka Charm! That is the best way to describe this place. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to going back. I was so amazed at all the things available for the kids to do. The grounds and the staff were lovely. Food was great.

Such a cute, traditionally Canadian getaway. So much to do, facilities are great. Yes it may be a tad outdated but it’s a lodge sort of getaway in muskoka, not the four seasons. Really enjoyed our stay and food was great! Will be back!!

Beautiful old place; it’s been there 149 years. Traditional Muskoka experience. Needs a little work here and there but adds to the cottage feel. We had a lovely time. Would have liked 2 chairs in our room, and our bathroom was due for a reno, but we would still recommend.

Pro: The resort was small so easy to navigate especially if you have young children. Pro: All the activities were included for resort guests ie: paddle boarding, canoeing, tennis, golf etc. Con: As one of the last standing "heritage" resorts should be better preserved. Staff were unorganized and not very helpful in terms of what activities are included etc.

We were worried, after reading the reviews, about our upcoming stay at this resort. Yes, it is dated and a bit run down. However, the staff are very polite, the service was good, and the location on the water cannot be beat. We never had trouble accessing the non-motorized water sports, and our kids (7 and 9) had a blast on the inflatables. We played a few holes on the 9-hole golf course (bring clubs for kids but there are adult loaners available), hit the ball around the tennis courts, and enjoyed the zoo show. Is it the Hilton? No. But if you are looking for a laid-back vacation with your family in the beautiful Muskoka region, we would recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 526 - would highly recommend something in the 520-529 range.

Unexpected hotel lodge fees of $57. You should make that clear in your site as I was not expecting that nor did we use any of the facilities.

The room was really clean, but very small. Double bed, dresser and tiny fridge. No chairs to be seen. Quite disappointed! The door to the room was a metal, unpainted fire door that didn't reach the floor.not reallly worth the money.

Long overdue for an update to the rooms, in some cases I noticed rotten railings.

Rooms and lodge are very outdated and in desperate need of fixing up. My room was close to the beach and pool, but one pool was out of order. Disappointed that you had to pay extra for the water park in the lake. We almost didn't get a table for dinner because we were told we should have made a reservation, but reception didn't tell us that. The rooms were clean, staff were friendly and there is lots to do at the resort.

The resort is "Olde Muskoka" resort style. The charm is intact, but some of the rooms need updating/refreshing. It was clean and welcoming, but some of the buildings and rooms are tired from many generations of use. Lots of activities and very kid friendly. AMAZING dark sky view of Perseid meteor shower.

The location was great and check in was fairly quick and easy. The room was small and there was not even a chair to sit in. No internet was available. The shower did not have a ledge for toiletries, which was a little odd. Also, I paid for a room with a balcony and did not have a balcony. Staff was not overly welcoming or friendly. Upon check out I was asked to pay for the room although I had already paid in full. The girl insisted several times I had to pay, even after I showed my receipt that I had paid in full already. Another employee had to finally get engaged and confirm that I had paid. I would likely not stay there again.

Rooms need to be updated. There was no control for heat in the old heat/ac unit.

Expedia descriptions did not match actual ie they have no balconies, parking is really inconvenient, the golf course is a joke, terrible condition.Tthere is only one restaurant , plus an onsite pizza joint that is not run by cleveland, Tennis courts are badly cracked and some are used for parking. Addition of a $25 facilities fee per day is just a way of reducing the advertised rate. The staff is excellent. The facility needs paint. our air conditioner was so loud we couldnt use it..Wifi only in check in lobby. Good shallow beach. Not good value for money paid. Jim

Cleveland House has a beautiful property with an incredible location on Lake Rosseau. Mature trees, and many buildings with character. That being said, I’d never stay here again. Regardless of some minimal upgrades, the place looks as though it hasn’t changed since the 60s. Happy upon arrival, things quickly changed when we arrived at our building to locate our room. We were greeted by loud shouting and kids running up and down the halls. Apparently a junior hockey team was staying here, and the group was holding a party in the hallway. The kids were going up and down the halls knocking on all the doors, and one drunk father was joking about it. Our room was fine, and clean, but there was only one bed for my friend and I. Our booking, and the image provided, secured a room with two beds. I went to the office to request a change. I was polite, and didn’t mention the kids and the hall party. They were trying to figure out what to do, as it was highly booked. One woman came out and asked what the problem with one bed was, and said “Aren’t you husband and wife”? Marital status was none of her business, and had nothing to do with the issue. They finally put us in a different building, with falling apart handrails, stinking hallways, stained carpets, and torn wallpaper. For the money we were paying, this was the most disgusting room I’ve ever stayed in. For booking with a seemingly reputable resort, I was expecting a little more. Im not someone who complains often, but this all really bothered me. Upon checkout, I had to pay an approximately $30 resort fee, which was never mentioned in my online booking. I know some resorts have this, but to my knowledge, everything was already paid for. This experience was a total disappointment. I hope others don’t have the same experience I did.
