Very special eco-lodge, with charm and commitment to conservation, education and hospitality. Toruguero is an extremely magical place, the rivers and water are very exotic and unique, full of wildlife, insects, birds, reptiles, and the guides are very knowledgeable.

After a lone bus journey, I finally made it for 2 nights because the landslide on route 32 caused a tremendous divergence. The public spaces are contemporary and in decent shape, however, the rooms are not enough. Particularly the bathrooms, which require renovations, are dark and worn out. The room's lighting was subpar, with garden furniture serving only as the one chair. Despite the pouring rain, our entire experience felt a touch washed out, not due to the rain, but to the included tours. We followed the boat trip all the way to the village before returning home. Our paid kayak trip went on, and while it pouring rain, Brian was a fantastic tour guide. It's extremely strange that the lodge does not have any wet weather alternatives after the promised afternoon boat trip, which was not possible. Perhaps a visit to the nearby turtle center or even a lecture would have been superior than the other options we had. A group of us decided to take a beach trip in the pouring rain and had plenty of interest. Just a shame it could not have been done with a naturalist guide. The meal was adequate. The menu is the same every day, with a slight change at lunchtime. We arrived 15 minutes before the plane and even before the sansa staff due to our flight on the final day. The wonderful location of Mamba with a chill vibe. Also, the place was very clean and modern. And then, the staff was wonderful and took care of us. After that, the boat tours were quite good and totally worth the money.

The grounds are very well maintained and have meticulous care. In my opinion, I will not blame them. There are a few employees who look unsatisfied, but I couldn't cope with the hot weather and repeated demands or complaints. Excellent lodge that is far enough from the city for a quick stroll. The accommodations are standard, but because this is a remote small town in the tropical rainforest, it adds to the excitement. Don't anticipate marriage amenities here, take advantage of the exotic plants and flora this weather provides. We found that the simplicity of the rooms kept us outside and that we had chances to see toucans, macaws, lizards, and more. Although wi-fi is only accessible in certain areas, it makes the atmosphere more interesting and sad to see people gathering in the lobby using their phones. The grounds are wellkept and with great attention to detail. Of course. I dont blame them, I was unable to put up with the heat and constant requests or complaints.

Due to this location, a combination of land transportation and boat ride is required to get to Mawamba Lodge,The Lodge offers daily boat transfers from the dock in Guapiles at an additional cost. Otherwise guests may arrange their own boat transportation but should let Mawamba Lodge their expected arrival time at least 3 days before arrival. Please contact the property to confirm your transportation method and inquire about any additional information.Please note that the reception is closed from 20:00 until 05:30.
