We got a good and warm welcome from the reception staff. Very clean, with a big and comfortable communal area. Only a short walk to the beach. The showers were good and hot, the bed I comfortable. Even though there is only one bed in the bedroom, it's fine as there is a shared area. Free coffee and bananas.

I suggest staying somewhere else if you want to assist the village in Puerto Vijo by making a donation to a local charity rather than staying in another location. It seems to cost $123 for a bed in a spacious dorm. Regardless of whether the management has set these costs or outsourced dynamic pricing and therefore sold soul to accommodation booking websites, this is outrageously overpriced. The hostel is actually an open shed constructed of wood and bamboo with gaps in the structure. The architect and management might have thought it looked adorable and vaguely tropical. It is inconvenient, especially since the hostel lacks a garden and is directly facing the street on two sides. Bed nets are provided with little protection from noise and mosquitos. Heaven knows how it must be like to live there during a rainstorm. The dormitory appears stable. There are bedside sockets, but no bedside lamps, and half of the ceiling lights are broken. In the cold shower, the water pressure was so low that water was only a trickle. Friendly administration and a good central location. When checking, you must sign a disclaimer indicating that you are staying with a community project. Nothing is given regarding what this project is actually about.
