My wife & I had an amazing stay at this resort. The staff went out of their way to provide world class service with a personalized touch & feel. Every meal was amazing & I couldn’t have asked for a better stay & value for the cost!

Hotel is simple but surrounded completely by nature, it’s the kind of place where you wake up to the sound of birds, fresh air, and total peace — no crowds, no noise, just pure serenity. Like your own private island. Amazing staff and home cooking meals.

The people. In the beginning they are “ the staff “, but very soon they become friends, and if stay long enough they become family, because that is how they treat you as soon as you arrive, special and embraced like a family member

From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, the staff treat you like family and make your stay totally comfortable and enjoyable. The experience is one I won't soon forget. Vinaka to all of the staff at Maqai.

Everyone was so kind and welcoming. It’s a small resort that is quiet and friendly, with really good food. It was fun to meet the other guests over meals and join in activities. Also, the snorkeling was amazing.

Staying here was basically having access to your own private beach. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. This facility is THE number one reason I must return to Fiji in the future.

The staff, particularly Jonny, went out of their way to welcome me to the resort. Everything was perfect, the food, location, boat trips around the island, room and bure, nightly music, singing, and sleeping to the sounds of the waves. By far, my favorite accommodations throughout my stay in Fiji.

We visited in September and had an amazing time. The staff were incredible and we highly recommend it. What we also really enjoyed is the small number of guests who were most like minded which made for a fun trip. Unfortunately there were winds, so no surf but the swimming, the daily events that the team put on made it fun. Def off the beaten track and highly recommend.

Maqai Eco Resort is a very special place. #1 in friendly, caring and fun staff who treat and love everyone as a family member! Each bure has a sitting deck & is just steps from the beautiful beach with hammocks. We loved eating outside at the Sand Bar & hanging there with couches, chairs, pool table etc. Activities available to do or to do nothing:) You won’t regret time spent here.

Bula!…The stay was beyond amazing. The entire staff strive to make your trip the trip of a lifetime. The weather wasn’t great during our stay but the staff offered events such as volleyball and ping pong tournaments. Food was delicious as well. We will be back!

Great, fun resort with beautiful people. Beautiful beach. If you want a hut on the beach experience with kava nights where you sing and sit around playing guitar, play pingpong, volleyball, go for hikes, make coconut jewelry, kayak, paddleboard and swim, this is top notch.

This place is amazing. Low key, beautiful place. Not fancy, but paradise. Off the beaten track for sure - you have to take a car to a boat and then boat ride to get there. When you get there you will be taken care of and eat some amazing food. The staff are wonderful and the place is beautiful. You do have to pay for the meal plan because there’s no other way to eat but it’s very delicious.

Cathy and staff were absolutely wonderful! Fabi is great in the kitchen and the volley court. Floyd is as sweet as can be, front of house, in the bar and of course on the volleyball court. They took great care of us and ensured we had a memorable stay. The beach is gorgeous and the snorkeling right from the beach is beautiful. They offer free snorkels, kayak and SUPS. The gear is great. We played volleyball with the staff. The food is well worth it and we walked away from each meal very satisfied. The rooms are basic but that’s all you need when you are steps away from the beach. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. There isn’t much to do as you must access by boat but it’s great to just sit back and relax. We didn’t want to leave this amazing experience and friendly staff.. especially the resort dog, Suki!!

I was looking for a surfing trip for my 16 yearold son, and the conditions were tropical warm weather, waves, off-the-beaten-path, and not too commercial. Mama met all of those criteria, among other things. The food for the 7 days was excellent, each meal made with love and care and delicious, and healthy. The staff was the greatest I've ever encountered in hospitality. We were treated warmly as family, and every request was responded to promptly. Cathy was like a mother to the staff and guests and is extremely experienced and informed. We always got a thrill from the wonderful boys in charge of the bar and table service. Johnny in particular has a level of knowledge and expertise not seen in other places. We were always entertained and felt like they were there to assist in anything. The village tour was genuine, hospitable, and moving. I entered the mangroves with a dazzling greeting, and it was a calm, pleasant place to go. The waterfall day trip was simply astounding, and the scenery around the resort is as stunning as any other location in the south pacific. Tex was in charge of the activities and made an effort to get everyone involved in all the activities, especially volleyball, which all the staff participate in. The music and singing around the Kava Bowl were as tranquil or soaring each night depending on the mood. I suggest mama to surfers, families

We spent ten nights at Mama on a wonderful family holiday. The resorts welcoming, entertaining atmosphere was its highlight. Through music, singing, dancing, and a genuine concern for the people, a setting that adds to its uniqueness and intimacy as it is just a tiny institution. The employees were excellent and gave a lot of help. We thoroughly benefited from the daily volleyball ritual each afternoon at 4 oclock, and the evening kava ritual. We got to know the employees and other visitors as we took part in the daily volleyball ritual every afternoon at 4 oclock, as well as the nightly kava ceremonies. Each meal was delicious, healthy, and diversified, and was prepared with a variety of fresh ingredients. During this time of year, it is normally windy, but it was windy except for the last three days when we were fortunate enough to surf the reef, which was extremely special for me. Do not allow this discourage you from visiting mama if you are not into surfing. We went on a variety of wonderful snorkeling excursions, including the waterfall walk, handling fishing, spear fishing, kayaking, and bushwalk. The bungalows are simple but cozy. At midnight, the lagoon is ideal for snorkeling and swimming. At low tide, you must walk over the reef, which contributed to the fun for us, but might not be suitable for everyone. Many thanks to everyone
