When we came, there were major roadworks on the street which meant the main road leading to the hotel was closed. Overnight, we had to park on the side street opposite and wheel our cases across a muddy road. The roadworks started again at eight o'clock, making it difficult to get out. The decor was described as wood and gold, and the breakfast room could have justified this description but was still a bit shabby. There was no gold in our bedroom, and the only wood visible was where the paint had been knocked off the skirting. The room was large but in need of decoration and tacky. Perhaps the hotel will undergo a major update when the roads are finished. The bed was firm and comfortable in size, the shower was good, there were two useful hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom and the water was hot. Well you might say what more do you want for one night! A pity the toilet flush needs maintenance and the furniture in this large bedroom was awkward. It doesn't matter if the view from the window was of extensive roadworks, as they don't work at night. Though the restaurant in Australia was good and friendly see separate report, breakfast was a bit slim, the ham was almost gone, there were no other cold meats and only a little cheese. There was no staff in the breakfast room and no food replacements there were many people
