This is very convenient for the airport, and it has a lovely breakfast, available from 7 am and served by a really pleasant lady. The ground floor is the ideal place to walk from the airport, stroll through the parking lot into the mountains, then along the dual-track on the right side, which is well-traveled. Take the first right off the road at the Skylark compound, slant to the hills before turning right up a ratted road towards the oden for 5 minutes. Turn left, then straight ahead to reach another dual-coach that is tricky to cross and the iris is just a little bit down the minor road opposite, on the left. When I was a pensioner, I did it in 25 minutes, but that was in January with a backpack, and I don't think I would attempt it midsummer with anything bigger than a small trolley bag or with children. It's an international syndrome if you need a taxi, just have some change, and ignore the taxi drivers' complaints, it's an international syndrome. It takes about an hour to climb two buses into the center of Thessaloniki, where there is a large Ikea shop and other retail shop. Ask for an ikea, and a taxi costs about five euros. This hotel is recommended and will stay there again soon. The room is big, spacious, and clean, near the main road with restaurants and about 20 minutes walk from the airport. It would be nice if a shuttle was offered due to the busy main road that separated the hotel from the airport.

I booked the iris hotel at 2 am in a business and industrial area and just behind the car repair shop in a side street. Good price and good relation.

After a late flight to Thessaloniki, we stayed for one night. It's on a side street, only 510 minutes from the airport, and there is lots of free parking outside. Though not colossal, the hotel and the bedrooms were all adequate for our requirements, including travelodge budget-style rooms. It was clean, the air conditioning worked perfectly, the room had a refrigerator, and the kettle would be nice, much like we are accustomed to in Greece, but that's not how it is done, and we only arrived only briefly, so there were no major issues for us. The staff was really polite and accommodating, and the breakfast buffet had a wide range of choices, which was very delicious and fresh, and we used a little outdoor patio. Excellent value for the money, I would suggest it.
