Äußerst hilfsbereite Staff, selbst in besonders schwierigen Situationen. Allerbeste Lage am New Market. Perfekt, um Kolkata zu Fuß zu entdecken. Executive Zimmer mit toller Aussicht. Rooftop Restaurant. Perfekte Location für Reisende, die sich nicht daran stören, dass das Hotel leider etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist.

The revelation was the roof terrace restaurant and cocktail bar on the 10th floor. Fabulously cooked Indian menu, good cocktails and an eagle that swooped around the top of the building in search of pigeon.

Had a good stay at the Lindsay. We arrived at the hotel with a taxi booked from the airport by the hotel. All went very smoothly. The guy was outside with a name tag and we found him, no trouble. When we left, the hotel organised a taxi for us with the price set. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were courteous and helpful and i would like to pick out Veer as being particularly helpful and a definite credit to the hotel. When we arrived we had a twin bed room but when we asked for a double room we were immediately upgraded without any issues. The hotel is right opposite an indoor market and just down the road from a large park. We used the metro which is five minutes away. The restaurant in excellent and is used by a lot of people not staying at the hotel. A large number of Europeans and Indians use it as it is recommended. A good example of the well trained staff was when i questioned having ice in my drink - very pleasantly, the waiter invited me to accompany him to the bar where i was shown the water purifier system which put my mind at rest. All in all a very good stay and much credit due to the staff.

Pros: The location of this hotel is very good in terms of shopping. Just a narrow street in between hotel and new market. Breakfast is quite good. Rooftop bar & restaurant is also good. Cons: Rooms are pretty small in terms of the amount you are paying for the room. Outside of front gate is always dirty and full of footpath shops. Staffs are quite unfriendly.

Opposite New Market in the centre of Kolkata but quiet enough. We took a Junior Suite, which was quite spaceous. The hotel is an older style place that has atmosphere. The trade off are rooms that are a bit tired. If you enjoy being in the lively centre this is a good place to stay.

Excellent helpful and courteous staff. Although entry is not too great as it is off the street the location is good for those who want to explore and see Kolkata with the Indian Muesuem , Park Street , Victoria Memorial very close. Opposite New Market. Useful for shoppers .

The hotel was pricey for what we got. There were homeless people always sleeping outside the hotel and piles of trash/dirt right outside the door. I would expect them to keep their surrounding space clean, at least by the door. The hallways were dusty from not vacuuming and we develeoped severe dust allergies while in Kolkata so this did not help. Overall, the hotel provided all the necessary accommodations (nice rooms, restroom, daily cleaning, etc). The breakfast was terrible and lobby staff inattentive and not pro-active at all.. everyone seemed to be in a daze, not in a hurry to get anything done. I don't think it was worth the $70-$80 per night I paid.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. Rooftop restobar has excellent food and views. The only thing that would make me hesitate to stay there again in the New Market area itself. Too crowded for me. But no complaint about the hotel.
