Zostel Poombarai (Kodaikanal)

All rooms on the property are situated on steep terrain and are accessible only via stairs.
In the event of an unpaid reservation, kindly contact the property within 24 hours of creating your booking to complete a 100% pre-payment. Failure to do so will result in an irreversible cancellation of your booking from our end.
Luggage assistance and room service are provided for the private rooms.
Our standard check-in time is 1 PM and the standard check-out time is 10 AM. Early check-in and late check-out requests are subject to availability, and may also attract an additional fee at the property's discretion.
We strictly DO NOT allow a group of more than 6 people. In case of a group of 3 or more, you might be purposefully allotted different dorm rooms. Further, if the group behaviour is deemed unfit at the property, the Zostel Property Manager, upon subjective evaluation, retains the full right to take required action which may also result in an on-spot cancellation without refunds.
Children below 18 years of age are not permitted entry/stay at any of our hostels, with or without guardians. We do not recommend families.
We only accept a government ID as valid identification proof. No local IDs shall be accepted at the time of check-in.
Guests are not permitted to bring outsiders inside the hostel campus.
We believe in self-help and do not provide luggage assistance or room services.
Drugs and any substance abuse is strictly banned inside and around the property.
Alcohol consumption is permitted at the premises as per the property’s discretion and local laws. Please reach out to the property prior to your arrival to confirm the same.
The last 4km stretch of the road is bumpy and unmetalled. Guests are advised to drive carefully or ask the help of a skillful driver.

Note: Bike or car rental services are NOT available in Kodaikanal district as the local taxi association aims to promote business to local taxi drivers.
- From Kodai Road Railway Station: ~102 km (~3 hr); Take a direct cab to the property for ~3500 INR.
- From Palani Railway Station: ~89 km (~3 hr); Take a direct cab to the property for ~3500 INR.
- From Madurai Airport: ~157 km (~4 hr); Take a direct cab to the property for ~5000 INR.
- From Kodaikanal Bus Stand: ~23.4 km (~1hr); Take a direct cab to the property for ~1300-1800 INR.
- Alternatively, take a bus to the Poombarai bus stand for ~22 INR per person. From the Poombarai bus stand, take a shared cab for ~INR 250, a private cab for ~INR 500, or walk ~4 km to the property.
- Note: The last 4km stretch of the road is bumpy and unmetalled. Guests are advised to drive carefully or ask the help of a skilful driver.
- Note: Due to the remoteness of the village, very limited cabs are available. Contact the hostel a day in advance to book the cab.
Please note that any changes in tax structure due to government policies will result in revised taxes, which will be applicable to all reservations and will be charged additionally during check out.
