I stayed in rome for a meeting at the far building. I expected that it was within walking distance. In the heat of June, it was too far, with little shade, to walk in the hottest weather. Cab rides were quick and affordable. The hotel is in the name, but it is different from the hotel I am used to in the us. It is located in a larger building that appears to be apartments or perhaps other hotels. The street door was behind the big trash cans when I stayed. Not beautiful but easy to find on the road. The staff at the desk spoke English. The housekeeper tried to use the key I was given at checkin but she could not work it either. The front desk staff had to come and let me in twice before I learned how to use it. It is a real metal key, not a card. Your key also unlocks the street door after hours. I was not planning to have the room cleaned while I was there. I slept with tiny covers and took cold showers to cool off at night. My room was very clean. When I first checked in it was very hot. I slept with little cover but the chair was plastic and the floor was made of wood. I didn't think it was worth it with the money I spent. I also ate there. There is a strip of bars near the colosseum that is walking distance from the hotel

It is not like a guest house in England. I didn't drink any english tea and it was only organic and didn't have a cooked breakfast. The place was small but clean, close to the Colosseum, which I love every day, there is a nice cafe next to the hotel that serves tea and toasted sandwiches.

This month, my husband and I stayed at the Domescolossal. This place offers a great base for exploring because it is very close to the coliseum and the metro. Our room was really small as a base, which was fine. Breakfast was traditional. The staff is incredibly pleasant and accommodating. After walking ten miles a day, the bath was the greatest thing I missed. We think the room would be incredibly claustrophobic for two individuals for a week.

The Colosseum is just around the corner from this location. With easy access to the metro and bus stops, the employees are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. Everyone makes you feel welcome. I love that the locks on the rooms are real keys. The rooms are extremely clean. Breakfast is available if requested. The Vatican Museum is also only a 15 minute drive away, and the taxi stand is two minutes away. I will definitely stay there again. Bonus points: Buy a bus ticket or Metro pass. No need to hire a car.
