The hotel is very close to the Gymnasium where we had our Aikido Seminar. It was in easy walking distance. Room was very compact and difficult for my husband who is 6ft height.

First of all, you must understand that this is a business hotel and what that means in Japan. So, yes the rooms are small but compared to other business hotels I have stayed at, they are actually a bit larger. Bathrooms are tiny, but this one had a tub whereas the others did not. Green Rich is clean. The staff is ready to assist. Their English may not be great, but when I had trouble figuring out the AC control, one of the staff accompanied me to the room to explain it. That's customer service! Breakfast was fabulous. Well worth the amount charged. Everything was freshly prepared and in large quantities. Is it a "bacon and eggs" kind of breakfast? No, but it is an outstanding Japanese one. Location is perfect. The hotel sits across the street from the street car and a bus stop is less than a block away. There is a beautiful park just behind the hotel with walking paths throughout. To "seal the deal", the price of the room was very reasonable. Despite what others have said in their reviews, this is a perfect place to stay in Kumamoto City.

I stayed at this hotel for one night during my tweek visit to Japan. The hotels biggest advantage is it's convenient location on the main street, which means it's just a few meters away from a tramway stop connecting to the castle, shopping mall, and train station. The beautifully manicured Suizenji garden is directly across the street. Clean rooms are well spaced, so you must pack lightly if you want enough walking space around your bed. I generally found that to be the norm in Japan. The hotel also offers free wi-fi on all of the premises. Breakfast includes traditional Japanese fish, eggs, rice, pickles, and soup, along with a wide variety of teas and juices. There was also bread and jam available for those looking for more international breakfast, but I must warn you that the toaster is a minivan, meaning it takes longer than the normal minute to warm your toast! Basic, clean, and convenient. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about either.

First of all, get a feel for the concept of a business hotel. This is a place to sleep and not to relax in the room. Sleeping areas are significantly smaller than those in America. Ours was a mattress on the floor better than a futon. Bathrooms are also small but very reliable. Creating luggage space is cool. That being said, this is an excellent business hotel. Our room was clean and bright with a view of Suizenji park out the window. The bathroom, though small, had a tub which my wife was thrilled that the previous place didn't have one. Staff does not speak much English, but they bent over backwards trying to figure out the ac control. There are washers and dryers on site, as well as free wifi. Breakfast was to die for. Traditional Japanese cuisine and lots of it. All freshly prepared. well worth the additional cost of the room. Which brings me to the cost. This hotel is priced right. If you are looking for a place to sleep while touring yamamoto and really don't need all the extras, this is your place.

I stayed here for two nights while visiting Yamamoto. From here it's convenient to reach the Aso region. A tram stop is located right across the street, making it convenient to get to other parts of Yamamoto as well. The staff speaks little English but is quite helpful. And I was very happy with their service. Breakfast buffet is good at a very reasonable price. The room is small but clean, with a good bath wash and shampoo.

This place is recommended. We only needed a room to sleep for the night before visiting it and the hot springs. The room was small but adequate and we found delicious food nearby. It was good value for money and easy to get to from the airport.
