I have to say that the accommodation is reasonably priced. I stayed at this hotel in early December for my first night in Kagoshima, and I took the package with dinner and breakfast. One of the two blocks is currently being repaired and upgraded to resist an earthquake. The dinner was very nice in terms of presentation, but the quality of some portions, like tempura, was subpar. The number and quantity of portions are more than adequate. Breakfast buffet offered a good selection and quality of Western and Japanese cuisine. The room is big, but the facilities in the room are a bit old due to a few electrical outlets. However, given its size and location, the hot spring was excellent.

For the first two nights, we stayed in a lavish, remote Roman spa called matsu, see my other review, where we were given pampering every time we went. We decided to reserve Kako instead since it had lower costs and would provide us with a resting place to unwind after the feasts in Matsu because we had two full days of hiking planned for our last two days. We adjusted our expectations for the hotel accordingly. Even the crowned prince had once visited, but the hotel is still fairly ancient. To welcome you at the front door. There are various onsets available, some of which you may reserve for your private use. The public bath at the hotel's top level is typical and has a very typical mountain outlook through old, glass windows. I wonder when they could start creating better windows? Why not go all the way and look for a few sites and compare them, I used Booking and Jamaican? I went for the first in my situation because booking 2 singles was actually cheaper than booking a double.

A very authentic Japanese hotel. I tried to email the hotel by doing some pre-arrival arrangements for my family, but there was never any online communication. Only one lady in reception can speak fluent English, other people are just Japanese. One day when I tried to ask the receptionist to call a place to check the opening hours for me, her attitude told me this was not her job. Onsets are available for both indoor and outdoor.

The hotel has a clean and tidy room, and even though the rooms are small, especially the bathroom, so it is very cramped. So, we didn't use the shower. The receptionist was kind and helpful and also a patient with good English skills.

Excellent service. They put on a vegetarian meal at the last minute, and it comes with a wide selection of facilities. Highly recommended. The Japanese room is stylish and the bed linen is extremely comfortable.
