Recommended guest house in kyoto. Traditional house mixed with modern touch and functional. The location is far from the station, but the house is very neat and well organized. Its worth staying here, even hard to find at first.

We will definitely stay again in the future. Very cozy and beautiful, well maintained, organized and clean. You can tell the owner couple cares very much about this place. Traditional japanese setting combined with excellent modern amenities. 5 minutes walk to the bus stop which covers most sightseeing spots. Quiet neighborhood surrounded by small restaurants and temples. The owner couple are very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

I stayed at Murasakian for 7 days. Initially, I only booked the place for the experience of a classical Japanese house. I certainly got what I wanted, but I feel I got much more. The rooms are a little outdated, but that was what I expected. I got a good night's sleep every day despite the hot summer weather. but those were mostly irrelevant for me. Staying in that area with tips from the host allowed me to have some of the best memories from my trip to Japan. On my first day, the host gave me tips about what's worth seeing and what's best. Highlight was a very specific market at a shrine that happens once every month, which I would have no chance to see otherwise. The host also surprised me with a photo session in a full Japanese suit and a katana at the end. If you want to experience good hospitality and spend some time in a less touristy part of kyoto, this is the place for you.

I stayed at Murasakian for seven days. Initially, I reserved the place just for the taste of a traditional Japanese house. I genuinely got what I needed, but I think I received a lot more. The rooms are a touch outdated, but that's exactly what I anticipated. Despite the hot summer weather, I had a restful night's sleep every day. These, however, were largely irrelevant to me. With encouragement from my hosts, I was able to have some of the best memories from my trip to Japan while staying there. On my first day, the host gave me recommendations for attractions and restaurants, and I haven't been let down by any of them. The highlight was the regularly held religious market, which I would have no idea visiting otherwise. The end of a photo session in a full Japanese suit and a katana likewise thrilled me. This is the spot for you if you're looking to have good hospitality while exploring a less touristy part of Kyoto.
