This was the ideal location to have a ryokanlike experience. Im not sure if it is reeked of traditional rooster, but we slept on futons in tatami mat rooms with sliding doors. Since they are shared with the rest of the rooms, there are two onsens that can be locked for privacy. Couples and families are encouraged to bathe together to show consideration for the other guests who are waiting to shower. There are some restrictions, such as the onsee bathing rooms and exterior doors close or lock at 10 pm, and they take your room key each time you leave the premises. I also believe you cannot enter the property between 10 am and 3 pm. To wash your face and brush your teeth, communal sinks are located near the toilets. The proprietors were extremely kind and generous. They bring coffee to your accommodation around 7.30 am, while tea or hot water are provided in the afternoons instead. Wonderful little place! We are so glad we decided to stay. We spent two nights staying at oyado yoshinoyaka when we visited shirakawago.4.8/511 Apr 2023

I spent two nights here, and it was fantastic. The house is very traditional, so it has a great location and experience. We had to use application translate to have sex because the proprietors are old couples who are really kind and friendly. They dont speak english well, therefore we must use their application translation. This houses onsen and affordable local breakfast are its best features. There is merely ten oclock, which is the only drawback to staying here and they wont let you return home and will also have your room key with you when you leave. Apart from that, it turned out to be incredibly enjoyable.4.6/521 Jun 2024

The couple who live here are incredibly kind and accommodating! My two nights here were definitely made easier by the maps provided with good locations. And my most traditional japanese month, check out after that! The private bath is also fantastic!.4.6/521 May 2024

A very nice place to stay in tayama, owned by a lovely couple. I can experience sythola life here. The room is quite spacious and immaculate. We can walk to the morning market and other attractions because the location is close to Takamas center. Our onsen is the highlight of our visit. After navigating shirakawa for ages, i try the onsesen with my husband, and it is so soothing.4.6/510 Oct 2023

The hotel is run by a lovely old couple. The room is spacious, the hot spring bath is nice and includes yukata, tea, and morning coffee. It is conveniently located near sanmachi and the morning market, with helpful maps of the city provided. I wish i could have stayed longer than one night!.4.6/519 Jun 2023

Our time here was truly delightful. Although we were a little hesitant about staying in ryokans shared washrooms, our concerns turned out to be unfounded. The room was spacious and spotless, the wash rooms were cleaner than those in hotels, and the bedding was exceptionally cozy. Both the inns owners and its location were excellent, making it incredibly charming. However, one of the highlights was the onsen, which could be locked and used by armed family members.4.6/519 Feb 2023

We spent two nights in this traditional ryokan in late july, and it was fantastic. When we first arrived, we discovered that the establishment was run by an older couple who served as your Japanese grandparents during your stay. They would wave us goodbye every time we left and welcome us back everytime we returned. Although they apologized for not being able to speak english very well, between my five sentences of japanese and our collective handgestures, they made due very effectively. The location is an absolute dream in terms of the town. Speaking of which, the location can be an ideal place. In the historic center, there were excellent locations where you could purchase very nice souvenirs from artisans at the rooken. It is also only a 5minute walk from the morning market, which was excellent, so i would strongly advise getting up early to explore. There were several yukatas in the rooms, all of them were immaculately kept. After countless hours of exploring, you can also use the complimentary onsen, which was really clean and soothing. Overall, I would recommend anyone visiting takayama to stay here because they truly care about their ries and the visitors. Much love from4.4/51 Nov 2023

Kamar mandi digunakan.4.2/57 Jul 2024

The ryokan is run by an old couple. Staying here feels like being with your grandparents on vacation, as others have said. Its a simple bb with clean bathrooms and rooms. The bathrooms are shared, but they take care of them very well. They speak little english, so please be respectful. Also, they clean your rooms during the day, providing you with nice new bed sheets and towels when you return. One thing you should know is that there is ten pm curfew, which you must return by otherwise, you will not be able to enter. So if you plan to stay out late, consider other locations. But it worked for us because most shops and places close early anyway. You can enjoy calming private onsen! And thats what makes it so perfect.4.0/523 Feb 2023
