About Les Chalets en Champagne
This guest house is located in the heart of an evergreen forest adjoining the National Park, in the very lap of Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire, the highest mountain peak of Mauritius. It is the only forest in the island featuring a unique variety of endemic and indigenous trees struggling for survival amidst a luxuriant and exotic vegetation. The guest house is 7 km from Chamarel's Seven Coloured Earth and 8 km from the Black River Gorges viewpoint, Alexandra Falls, Petrin and Macchabee Forest and Piton de la Petite Riviere Noire. Guests will find the tourist centre of Ruisseau Creole just 10 km away and it is 10 km to Le Morne and Curepipe beaches.
The eco guest house comprises a total of 7 rooms. It is tropical in design and built entirely of exotic local timber, tecoma and cedar, as well as imported noble tecoma species such as palissandre from Madagascar, iroko from the Ivory Coast, daru daru from Indonesia, balau from Malaysia, sapelli from Central Africa, oak and beech from America. The roof is made of cedar shingles and the walls are clad with semi-log timber from South Africa while the furniture is made up mainly of oak and beech, sapelli/kiaat and used railway sleepers. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a 24-hour check-out service, a hotel safe and a restaurant. Guests can also take advantage of the room service and there is parking available for those arriving by car.
All rooms come with a private bathroom with a shower/bathtub, a hairdryer and a WC and offer a king-size or double bed. They have a living/dining room with a TV, a DVD player, a radio, a hifi, a safe, a fireplace and minibar, a kitchen corner with a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, a cooker, a fridge/freezer and tea and coffee making facilities. Furthermore, individually regulated air conditioning and heating are provided in all accommodation as standard and Bois Bigaignon additionally offers a sun terrace.
