I stayed here for the experience of staying in a castle and I must admit that I was unimpressed. First, please keep in mind that if you travel by train, the hotel is an uphill walk. It took me around 20 minutes. I had a small backpack. With a larger suitcase, it wouldnt be possible. There are no taxis or users available. The best option is to call the hotel and request that they send a taxi. My room and bathroom were quite small. As many people have pointed out, there are many stairs to navigate. Breakfast is served upstairs in the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised that the buffet wasn't larger or had no cooked options. The hotel is very conveniently located to the town, and there is an access point to the town wall nearby. When it was time to leave, I asked the hotel to arrange a taxi, and they said I would have to walk about 10 minutes to a location outside the city walls to get it. However, on the morning of my departure, I was requested to share a taxi with other women, and the taxi arrived at the hotel door. I'm not sure what it was about.

The hotel does not provide parking. The location is also excellent. The room is a standard size. This place is close to free parking. They give free parking in nearby spots. The restaurant area has a lovely view of sunrise and sunset. But we didn't have to worry about parking until 12 th if we come back if we want to come back again.

This castle is extremely unique and interesting compared to other European castles weve stayed in. If you are driving, be aware that you can only drive within the walls of the old city to unload and reload your baggage. Everything is cobblestone. Sidewalks and streets, making it difficult to transport large bags for a 3 12-week european stay. So we repacked the things we needed for our day's stay in small bags and left the large ones. There are many steps to get to the castle reception, and also to the lower level rooms, then to the restaurant. There is no lift, so be prepared for some hiking. However, the hotel provided assistance from our parking area directly outside the walls. Morning coffee was unavailable until breakfast at 8, so when there wasn't even a kettle in the room, I asked for at least a kettle on the castle's welcome survey. I left to purchase one the day of our arrival, as my wife needed hot tea and was nursing a cough. The hotel immediately responded with a brand new espresso machine and pods, stating that they had been awaiting their order for these for all of the rooms for a while. Bravo! Tourists may view the exterior of the castle, and dine at the beautiful restaurant for lunch or supper, but that's about it. All interior was renovated for the hotel rooms or the restaurant. This is not a hotel for persons with mobility issues. There are several stairs without handrails, and slippery cobblestones. Our room and bathroom were small. Breakfast was quite good, once again up stairs. The town is pleasant, and there are many excellent restaurants.

The employees were also friendly and accommodating, resulting in a memorable stay. The castle restaurant restaurant was also very beautiful. Today, November 14 th, 2022, our room was too warm for our tastes, and felipe tried to assist with upkeep. A strong varnish odor, however, was not fading. When felipe discovered our dissatisfaction, he was able to locate us a wonderful, pleasant room in the castle. For the first time, my sister and I are traveling in Portugal, and felipe has truly made our bids memorable. I want to commend his service and let his superiors know how much we value it. We also enjoyed a delicious meal and breakfast.
