Upon arrival, I saw a very friendly and helpful employee. The rooms and amenities are dated but neat. Some areas are under renovation. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxing, and breakfast outside was a great way to start the day. Although I did not use the pool, it seemed to be well-kept, and there were several lounge chairs available for relaxing. I would stay here again and found it to be reasonably priced.

I reserve this place to stay because I was attending a meeting in their conference room. The first time I was placed right above where some drilling work was going on and requested to be moved. They did transfer me to another end of the hotel but it was obvious why they were getting renovated. The rooms are fairly dirty and musty and could use some renovation. I checked out the next day. But everything was okay, in my opinion. The food was good, service was friendly, and they have wonderful grounds. The bakery at the front desk is extremely tempting but I was able to resist it.

Umubano is a historically important hotel in Kali and Central Africa but it was a little neglected. Refurbishment was long overdue and was going to begin right away while I was there. The service was also subpar. The food was good a la carte, but the buffet had good and bad days. I hope Umubano will return to its historically high standards when the refurbishment is finished.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. The bathroom and room are quite old, and it appears that they haven't been remodeled in a generation, but the rooms are large. I won't go back to the room, but the breakfast is fantastic. It comes with the room rate and the spread is excellent. There are many hot dishes, pastries, fruit, delicious coffee and tea. A few days I stayed there, vendors were selling their goods in the lobby. Its nice to grab a few souvenirs without leaving.

We will definitely come back here again. The location and views are stunning, and I am sure the rating will rise once the renovation is complete. This is a really lovely and meeting place right now. From what we see, the renovation should be finished by mid 2019.
