Firstly, I have to point out that many of the ratings for these apartments are totally inaccurate, I believe because Zurich has a few Swiss stars and also a hotel in California, there must have been some confusion. The correct name for these apartments is Swiss Star California and application gives the address as 125 Asylstrasse and the picture on their website is unquestionably of the property I stayed at. There is no reception and no owner-manager. The only staff member I encountered during my stay was a female cleaner. The apartments' entrance is located on the side of the building, and shortly before arrival, you will be emailed a code that controls both the key pad to the door and the room. Each code is unique, so it is essential that you keep it or write it down. There are two confusingly, but only the smaller one to the right is in operation. There is no reception once inside, but a short flight of stairs leads to a door leading to the ground floor restaurant, but the restaurant operates independently of the apartments and cannot assist with any queries or problems. Regardless, the room was good with double-sided windows and a bright and sunny view. The french windows led to a balcony with a table and two chairs. We were happy with our stay. Last week, we traveled there with two kids for a week. The proprietor graciously gave us a bigger room. The room is spotless, and the beds are cozy. The temperature is ideal for the winter. Nearby restaurants, a cafe, a tramway stop, and a bakery are all available. Walking distance to the city center is also possible. There is no risk for sleeping if the windows don't close properly because our room is close to the road. No one of us has any problem at night.
