Batty Langley's is located close to Liverpool station, which is on the new and excellent Elizabeth Line, so even though it's not right in the centre of things, it is easy to get to West End shopping and entertainment. YOu get more space for your money here than you would at a more central location, and the atmosphere is both elegant and genuinely English. You will not have to endure yet another exercise in designer's grey. THe plumbing is magnificent both visually and functionally. THe room was overheated, but one of the windows opened, which addressed that problem quite easily. The bedding was fine and comfy, but I kept hitting my head on the magnificent head-board. THere was a mini-fridge loaded with drinks, but no kettle or teabags. But these are minor complaints - I very much enjoyed the portraiture, and felt like I was spending the night at my favourite London gallery, the National Portrait Gallery!

Stunning hotel in a superb location! Close to shops, markets, restaurants, cafes and transport. Staff exceptionally helpful. Rooms spacious and clean. Our only negatives would be no coffee/tea facilities in room (they’re available in lounge, are complimentary and when asked for were delivered free of charge but would prefer option in room) and there was no railing to get in and out of the deep bath/shower. Despite above, would stay again, and again and again!! ❤️

Faultless. Quickly becoming our favourite hotel in London. SO convenient (location-wise), opulent interior, great AC and utilities. Staff are friendly and welcoming. 5* all the way.

Tim, the manager, was absolutely incredible—truly the icing on an already perfect cake. The hotel itself is just a short walk from Liverpool Street Station, which made getting there from Heathrow incredibly convenient. Stepping inside felt like being transported back in time; I practically walked in feeling like King Henry himself. The atmosphere was elegant, immersive, and full of historical magic. Every detail of the hotel felt thoughtfully preserved, like a living time capsule. The room was stunning, and I loved that each one had a name instead of a number—a whimsical touch that fit the whole fantasy-like vibe of the place. I even got a good laugh staying in a room named after a famous historical prostitute. That’s the beauty of history: not everyone was royalty, and the stories of all kinds of people make it richer. The bathroom continued the theme with its standalone tub, a faucet shaped like a bird’s beak, and even a toilet with a hand-shaped flusher. Every corner had character and included a library full of real books. Overall, it was an amazing stay, and I genuinely cannot wait to book another visit. It was simply lovely.

The Junior Suite (we were kindly given an upgraded room) was extremely comfortable. We made use of the sitting room when we ordered room service. The bathroom was lovely and warm and I enjoyed using the bath and the shower. Such a special hotel.
