About Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel
A warm welcome and traditional hospitality await guests at the Plough and Harrow Hotel in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The red brick Victorian architecture of the original building, along with its large garden, lawns, and ample parking, distinguishes the Plough & Harrow from other Birmingham hotels. Built in 1704 as a wayside inn, the hotel boasts a rich history. It was renowned as one of Birmingham's most popular hotels in the 1980s and early 1990s, even earning the Egon Ronay Hotel of the Year award in 1984. Its restaurant was *the* place to dine, attracting celebrities, politicians, and prominent figures. Following a period of underinvestment and changing ownership, the hotel returned to private hands in 2010 under TTM Partnership LLP. They've embarked on a 10-year phased investment and refurbishment plan, aiming to restore the hotel to its former glory as a high-quality, independent boutique hotel. The owners envision the Plough and Harrow as the preferred choice for corporate and leisure travelers, weddings, local functions, and casual dining. Future plans include expanding the hotel and potentially adding a spa and beauty facility around 2020 or later, after the existing public areas and bedrooms are refurbished.
