What a wonderful place to rest your head whenever in the Keswick area. The owners go out of their way to make you feel very welcome even to the point of running me in to town. Portinscale lies on the banks of Derwent water and is ideally located for Keswick and the Western Lakes and a stay at the Dalegarth is highly recommended

Room was clean and tidy, staff were friendly. Perfect locale for catbells with nice country pub down the road less than 5 minutes away and close to the lake. Breakfast was definitely worth it. Enjoyed my stay.

Absolutely stunning property, located in the heart of Pointiscale, Keswick. Easy to get around to points of interest by a local bus which is opposite the place and lots of places for local walks /hikes near derwentwater. Also close to Keswick centre (1.5 miles, or 25 mins walk). The hosts, Craig and Claire, were brilliant; friendly and charming. They have exemplary customer service skills and great knowledge of the local area. The hot breakfast was great and the touch of home made oat bars to fuel on morning walks was a lovely touch. I was put in a single room, which was compact but it had all the necessities as well as an en suite shower. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

My wife and I spent two nights at the property in September and found it a very good base for the northern lake district. It is withing walking distance of Keswick and it is a very pleasant walk through the fields, so no need to move the car and search for parking in Keswick. Portinscale is a very pretty and quiet little village, with one nice pub. Craig and Clare were perfect hosts, very informative and friendly. Our only regret is that we should have stayed at least one more day.

We had never been to that part of the lakes before so we weren't sure want to expect, the village itself it pretty and clean but definitely lacked amenities. Dalegarth B&B had the important things that we look for, Top of the list, cleanliness, and i think they do the best breakfast we've ever had. Lot's of choice, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurts, and a massive list of cooked items. No limits on food either. Very generous. The whole building is cosy warm, you get to decide whether to keep your radiators on or turn them off. Nice white sheets and towels and a stunning bathroom, We only had a couple of niggles. I'm personally not keen on Velux windows in a room, I like to be able to see outside, The pillows were a little to flat for us too. We had room 6 and we soon realised, room 5's bathroom was attached to our room and the people in there on the first night were chatting and flushing the loo throughout the night keeping us awake, Not that' the owners could have done much about that. The 2nd night we had new neighbours and never heard them once!!! Craig & Clare are welcoming, open and friendly, but they're definitely hands off hosts , which again we really liked. They've there if you want or need them with the press of a bell otherwise you only see the at breakfast. Clare is an amazing cook.

We received a very warm welcome from Craig and Claire on arrival, Craig even carried my suitcase from the car to the hotel where Claire took over and gave us the tour of the hotel ground floor and explained how things worked. Our room was spacious enough with an ensuite, I might suggest you take on of the chairs out we never sat on both at the same time. Bathroom was a great size with plenty room for our toiletries. We also had a great garden view. Breakfast was lovely, best poached eggs I've had on smashed Avocado and sourdough, the kippers were excellent and the full English was great too. Lovely thick bacon and proper meaty sausage. No end of tea and toast. I would recommend this hotel, Craig and Claire genuinely want youto enjoy your stay and this definitely comes across when they interact with guests. Craig has great local knowledge too and is happy to help with directions. Overall a great stay with the added bonus of great weather

Room is spacious and sparkling clean with nice view of the lake. It is an old building in traditional renovation. If you like the atmosphere of staying in an old English house you will definitely love it. We had a nice and quiet break from busy life there. Breakfast was nicely served. Close walking distance to hiking trail. It's a few minutes drive from town centre.

Faultless stay. Friendly onwers, clean, comfortable and homely accommodation with great views from front of house. Best breakfast ever! Short country walk into Keswick (17 mins) for non drivers like me. Great base for exploring Lakes.
